    Warm, clean, caring small facility

I'm so grateful I chose this place - it's beautiful, homey, the food always smells delicious, and the caring, friendly staff (the on-site manager especially) go out of their way to meet our needs and were a lifesaver during the pandemic. The facility is kept very clean, though housekeeping in rooms can lag and activities are limited due to short staffing. I highly recommend this over a larger facility.

About Hometown Manor Assisted Living Community

Hometown Manor Assisted Living Community sits in Bardstown, Kentucky, over by the entrance to Maywood Country Club where you get some nice views, and you immediately notice it feels very home-like and calm. The building's been there over 15 years, and they've got 16 newly renovated, spacious rooms, each one with its own private space, WiFi, cable, a phone, and fresh furnishings so nobody feels boxed in or crowded. Folks who live here get help with the usual daily things like bathing, dressing, grooming, medication reminders, and moving around, with caring staff around day and night so there's always somebody to talk to or help out if something's needed, and residents who can't walk or who need special attention with diets for things like diabetes or allergies don't get left out. There's a small, family-style dining room and an open kitchen where meals look simple but smell good, and the staff brings food to your room if you're having a day where you don't want to dress up for the table, or if you'd rather eat in your room with your pet, which is allowed. They keep up on laundry and housekeeping, offer linens, and check regularly if anything's needed, so things stay clean and stress stays down.

Everyone gets included in social activities-they do arts and crafts, music, games, movie nights, even gardening around the property which has walkways and a nice garden outside to stroll or sit when the weather's gentle, plus an enclosed sun porch good for all seasons. You'll see people attending services when the pastor's in, and the staff help with VA Aid Assistance if that's needed. Family and guests are welcome for meals, and there's parking outside if anybody comes to visit.

The staff puts a lot of effort into making sure everything's easy and clear, helping both new folks and their families understand options, and there's no guesswork on the rent since it's all-inclusive and you can pay by check. Hometown Manor has a higher staff-to-resident ratio than most, so people don't get lost in the shuffle. The community's kept safe with layered security, and the emergency alert system gives some comfort. They're open every hour of the day, all days of the week, so there's always someone on hand, and respite care is an option if someone needs a temporary spot while recovering or when caregivers need a break.

Hometown Manor covers more than just assisted living-with board and care options, independent living, and memory care, and the main thing people mention in reviews is the kindness of the staff, the familiar, comfortable feel of the place, and the little touches that make people feel like they're part of a community and not just a number on a chart, and that's worth something for those wanting a caring, stable place to live. The rooms look out on Maywood's views, there's room for a pet, and residents say it just feels like home, which is probably the best a place can do.
