    Quick placement, caring staff, unsafe

I appreciated the quick placement and caring staff-Dee was outstanding-so at times I felt confident in the move. However, high staff turnover, inconsistent caregivers, and a policy against sending backups caused huge caregiver and family stress; my mother even had a heart attack and I worried about how veterans were treated. Infection-control problems (a virus outbreak and a bleach-cleaning ban) and other safety concerns made my brief visit a negative experience overall.

    About Tender Touch Senior Living

Tender Touch Senior Living sits in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, inside a renovated school building with 19 assisted living apartments, offering studio and one-bedroom layouts that have kitchenettes with a microwave and mini fridge, private bathrooms with walk-in showers, individual climate controls, phone and cable hookups, and a homelike feel, while the family living area on each floor lets residents come together for meals and activities. The staff, led by owner Dona McCurry and executive director Demetria Johnson, supports residents day and night with help for bathing, dressing, medicine management, and getting around, and they're trained to help with Parkinson's disease, memory loss, and everyday personal care, while case managers work with residents and families so support changes as needs change, whether that's with light help or more hands-on tasks like spoon feeding or using the bathroom. Residents pick how much help they want, which can be as simple as reminders to take medicine, or as involved as skilled nursing or memory care support, all while living as independently as they can, and housework, laundry, and maintenance are all handled by staff, so no one has to worry about chores like cooking, cleaning, or fixing things around the apartment. The community welcomes pets and offers meal choices through easy-to-read menus, serving home-cooked meals like fried chicken, sandwiches, and garden vegetables three times a day in the dining room with snacks and desserts, all with attention to dietary needs like allergies and diabetes, and there's no cleaning up after eating. Amenities include a greenhouse, beauty shop, arts and crafts, puzzles and games, a games room, private dining space for special events, a movie theater, a massage service, communal kitchens, and a library, so there's always something to do, and Sunday church services, visits from local musicians, and scheduled group activities mean residents get social and emotional support. Outdoor areas, walking paths, gardens, and sitting spaces encourage fresh air, and group fitness classes and daily walks keep everyone moving, while the emergency alert system-either as a necklace or wristlet-plus active staff presence means help's always close by day or night. The building has free Wi-Fi in common areas, big TV rooms, and a community room for gatherings, and all utilities come bundled into one monthly bill, so there aren't surprise fees. Tender Touch offers transportation to stores, events, and doctor visits, and has programs like Veterans Aid & Attendance and long-term care insurance options to help veterans and others with costs, plus home care and adult day services for people who need help but want to stay in their own place. The staff speaks English and can help with non-ambulatory care, memory care needs, and medicine reminders, and each resident's support plan is set up to match what works best for them, with the goal of giving respect, dignity, and quality of life, whether you need a lot of help or just a safe and social spot to spend your days.
