    Warm staff, excellent care, downsides

I toured Cedarhurst and moved my mom here. The staff are warm, attentive and knowledgeable-memory care is excellent-and the community is immaculate and hotel-like with a lovely dining room, outdoor spaces and lots of activities (trips, live music, crafts). Food, maintenance and safety protocols were good, and staff really treat residents like family. Downsides: rooms can be small, the layout is spread out so some apartments are a long walk from elevators/dining, and service consistency varies at times. Overall I'm happy and would recommend, but I suggest touring multiple units and asking about staffing.

    About Cedarhurst of Beaumont

Cedarhurst of Beaumont sits in Lexington, Kentucky, and helps older adults who want supportive housing or need special memory care; the place has separate areas for assisted living and memory care, so folks can get the help they need whether they're pretty independent or need a good bit of support with things like bathing, dressing, or keeping track of their medicine. There's always well-trained staff around, including those who know how to support people living with Alzheimer's or dementia, and they work with residents to make personal care plans that try to fit each person's needs. For folks with memory problems, there's a secure part of the facility that helps keep everyone safe and lessens worry about wandering, plus regular activities and therapeutic environments to keep people engaged and give them some comfort, and they call it Memory Care. Cedarhurst of Beaumont uses programs such as Living TRUE Life Enrichment and Pair to Prepare, aiming to help people adjust, stay active, and feel included, and meals come from their Crafted by Cedarhurst culinary program, which gives choices like heart-healthy meals, Boost Your Brain options, gluten-free foods, diabetic-friendly plates, low-sodium dishes, and menus with food from the region. The Dining at Cedarhurst menu runs all day, and you'll see both indoor and outdoor spaces for socializing, group activities, and community events like devotional services, KSLA activities, and even public gatherings, plus an on-site beautician for salon services. Folks who move in get home modifications if needed for safety and more independence, and people who need it can have Home Health support. There are amenities most seniors want, such as meal service, regular activities, prayer services, and gardens or lounge areas, while the executive director, Amy Abshire, and her staff are easy to find and easy to talk to. Cedarhurst says it tries to help people thrive not only by caring for their health and daily needs but also by encouraging physical, mental, and social activity, whether that's offsite with the community or inside with friends. They offer a TRUEcost Calculator so families can figure out the price up front. Employment and provider opportunities are available for those wanting to work in a place that focuses on aging, and Cedarhurst of Beaumont acts as a resource for care services and education as well. People seem happy there, as their published reviews rate the community 5.0 stars.
