    Kind staff inconsistent and unsafe

I like that staff are kind, residents get regular updates and outings, and families are welcomed - but chronic understaffing and scheduling problems mean care is inconsistent and unprofessional. I've seen missed medications and toiletry requests, skipped baths/feeding issues, stolen clothes, weight loss, sticky floors and urine smells. Management needs to fix staffing and culture - we moved my brother to Encore and his care improved.

    About Camelot Brookside

Camelot Brookside is a for-profit, LLC-owned skilled nursing facility that takes both Medicare and Medicaid, which can help people with varied health needs, and while there's not much public information about the facility itself, it's managed by Central Control Management and sits near necessary places like Jennings Senior Care, Ochsner Health Center - Jennings Urology, and Walgreens Pharmacy, where residents can easily get what they need. The place provides extended care for those needing long-term support, and they handle specialized medical help, offering short-term rehabilitation, skilled nursing, long-term care, outpatient therapy, dementia care, respite care, and hospice or palliative care, with a focus on comfort and recovery through custom health plans. Residents receive help with daily activities like bathing, dressing, getting around, and managing medicines, and there's 12-16 hour nursing care, 24-hour supervision, a round-the-clock call system, and always somebody looking out for medical needs, which can be a relief for families worried about safety and well-being. There are plenty of on-site community services-daily activities on schedule, transportation if folks need it, and parking for visitors-plus the staff makes sure people can get to required check-ups or pharmacy visits, and the facility tries to address emotional, social, and cultural needs, providing individualized nursing care and making people feel respected at work and at home. Residents can join in social and recreational events like movie nights, music programs, and outdoor activities; use the activities room, arts and crafts space, game room, library, fitness room, enclosed courtyards, and walk in the gardens, or relax in the spa/wellness room. Meals are restaurant-style and the kitchen staff, including a professional chef, prepares food for many diets, including allergy and diabetes-friendly options, which is important for people with food issues. Rooms offer privacy with private bathrooms, cable TV, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, kitchenettes, and regular housekeeping, which can make daily life easier and more comfortable. The buildings are made to handle tough storms, standing up to 140 mph winds for hurricane safety, and there's modern security through cameras, gated entry, and swipe cards so residents stay safe both inside and out. The facility supports both long and short stays, offers help for non-ambulatory residents, has two well-equipped rehab areas, and keeps common areas warm and inviting, including a nice outdoor patio where people can rest and visit. All in all, Camelot Brookside tries to provide round-the-clock skilled nursing in a home-like setting, and while details can be hard to find, the focus appears set on supporting each person's health and well-being with the necessary services and comforts in place.
