About The Landing At Behrman Place

The Landing At Behrman Place - CLOSED sat on the West Bank of New Orleans as an affordable all-inclusive retirement community, part of the Sunshine Retirement Living Community network, where folks lived in independent and assisted living apartments set up for seniors 55 and over, and they had choices between studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom layouts, some furnished, some with patios or balconies, or often with space for pets too, and folks liked that you'd find washer and dryer units, kitchenettes, cable TV, individual climate control, and rooms made with barrier-free or handicap options for easy access. The dining room gave everyone three meals each day, where on-site chefs cooked buffet-style foods, special diets and allergy needs were respected, and there was a cafe and bistro if anyone wanted lighter snacks during the day, which was nice, and the whole community had high-speed WiFi and rooms wired for cable, which made it easier for everyone to stay in touch or watch their favorite shows. People joined in all kinds of activities-things like exercise classes, art classes, choir practice, movie nights, games, poker tournaments, trips, outdoor walks, garden time, and even spiritual programs both inside and offsite, and you'd see folks using the computer room, library, community room, guest suites, or the fitness area, plus there were salons for haircuts and barber services without needing to go anywhere. Housekeeping, linen changes, laundry, and home maintenance were all taken care of so everyone could spend their time how they wanted, and free transportation got people to appointments, errands, and shopping, which mattered most to so many folks who didn't want to drive anymore, and there was a parking lot for those who still did. The facility gave seniors medical care and medication management, help with bathing, dressing, transfers, and there was support for non-ambulatory residents, people with Alzheimer's needing memory care, and folks who used hospice too, and a 24-hour call and supervision meant someone was always there to help if needed, while caregivers spoke English and worked to help residents feel at home no matter their needs. The community kept a no smoking policy indoors and allowed both male and female residents, with minimum age restrictions, and people could use onsite devotional services, beauty shops, and meet with homecare aides, or even join the exclusive travel program and visit other Sunshine communities in different states, making it easy to take trips without worry. The campus grounds were landscaped with gardens and walking paths, and dogs or cats could live with their owners, bringing comfort to many, and all the while, the monthly rent included most living costs, so there weren't lots of extra bills coming in every month, and people could enjoy a comfortable, active life in the company of others.
