MaineGeneral Rehabilitation & Long Term Care - Glenridge sits over on Glenridge Drive in Augusta, Maine, and offers both short-stay and long-term nursing care for seniors who need help around the clock because of physical health issues or memory problems, and being dually certified means the place can provide skilled nursing as well as ongoing support for folks who'll be there awhile, maybe because they need help with dementia or recovering after a hospital stay, and that memory care unit, by the way, really seems to get a lot of focus from the team, which is made up of nurses, physical and occupational therapists, pharmacists, dietitians, speech-language pathologists, and all kinds of support staff working together. The building holds 125 beds, and there's a special facility for rehabilitation if someone's trying to get back on their feet, and you see, the staff is there five days a week with faculty on-site to supervise, which is part of what makes Glenridge unique, since this is also a main training ground for doctors in geriatrics, so there's always a strong medical presence. Folks living here get care that aims to respect their independence and dignity, but there's help close by for bathing, meals, medication, and pretty much whatever else is needed, with the meals cooked by chefs who pay attention to nutrition and taste, and the staff encourages feedback-families can share their thoughts as residents settle in. Glenridge gets a rating around 3.9 based on seven reviews, and even though there's not much detailed public information about activities or rooms, the focus really seems to be on coordinating care and supporting each person's health and goals. The center works closely with MaineGeneral Health, so residents often have a link to other medical services nearby, and there's a geriatrics nurse practitioner who stays involved to keep an eye on residents, plus the place helps train fellows in hands-on nursing home work and advanced care planning, so things stay up-to-date and organized for the people living there, and the surrounding neighborhood offers several other care options, too, if families ever need those choices.

Hardworking nurses amid unsafe facility
I'm grateful to the exceptional, hardworking nurses whose sincere care was the only bright spot. But the facility felt unsafe and unprofessional - unsanitary (blood cleanup), wandering and diapered residents, slow or absent responses, staff who lied or behaved racistly, possible abuse, pill-pushing, and a useless administration with too few staff. I oddly rated 5/5 for the nurses, but overall I cannot recommend this place until major changes happen.
