Winship Green Center for Health & Rehabilitation sits at 51 Winship Street in Bath, Maine and has about every care option you can think of for folks who need skilled nursing, short or long-term care, memory care, rehab, or even just a bit of help in their day-to-day living, plus they've got home health care certified by Medicare, which really makes things easier for people who want to age in place. Some folks go there after a hospital stay for post-acute rehabilitation, while others stay longer when they need daily care for chronic illness or disability, and you'll find that staff are around 24 hours a day, always trying to make a person feel supported in a homelike setting that doesn't feel cold or crowded, and they're careful to look after everyone's recovery and well-being. There's a special focus on therapy and palliative care, with treatment plans built for each individual, and you don't see many places that take palliative services as seriously, so that helps a lot for people with advanced needs. Memory care services stand out too, as the staff here have training for dementia and Alzheimer's, so residents get the help and respect they deserve, and the place pays attention to comfort, offering both private and shared rooms with clean, comfortable furnishings, along with access to outdoor spaces if you want some fresh air or a peaceful moment. They've also got a wide range of daily activities and events that are put together to keep people engaged, inspired and active, which is something that helps folks feel a sense of community even if they're there short-term. The center was recognized with the McKnight's Excellence in Technology Award, thanks to their partnership with Circadia Health, which shows they use up-to-date technology to monitor residents' health and safety, and the Passport™ approach creates a patient-centered plan that really tries to get at what each resident wants and needs. With visiting hours from 8 am to 8 pm and an option for virtual visits, families can stay connected. Behind the scenes, everything's run by National Health Care Associates, and the staff have a reputation for compassion and dedication, while the facility itself has received a "Certified Great Place to Work" distinction, probably because employees seem to stick around and work as a team. The center keeps its doors open every day, and stays focused on helping folks become a better, brighter, and stronger version of themselves, whether they need just a little bit of support or full, round-the-clock care.

Good for rehab but concerns
I placed my loved one here and overall I was impressed: the therapy team and nursing staff were caring, professional and hardworking, meals were excellent, the facility was bright and well maintained, and they kept families informed and safe during COVID. However, I also noticed occasional staffing shortages, cleanliness/odor and shared-bathroom issues, and I heard some alarming reports of neglect and poor management-so I'd recommend this place for rehab or short stays, but advise close oversight for long-term or end-of-life care.
