    Clean caring staff excellent nursing

I live here and it's an awesome, clean facility with pleasant, professional, and caring staff who clearly take pride in their work. Nursing care is excellent - they handle diabetes, blood checks, and coordinate well with my doctors - the food is good, residents are happy, and I especially love the staff and my wonderful roommate.

About Sanfield Rehab & Living Center

Sanfield Rehab & Living Center sits right on Main Street in downtown Hartland, ME, so folks living there can easily walk to the post office, grocery store, and even the local bank and restaurants, which lots of residents find handy, and you'll see the place is close to the lakes and mountain regions of Central Maine, so those who like the outdoors or want a change of scenery now and then won't feel too shut in. The center offers 23 certified beds and has several care options, from skilled nursing and long-term care to rehabilitation with physical, occupational, and speech therapies, and there's also post-acute and transitional care services for people who need extra help after a hospital stay and are not quite ready to go home, and they even have podiatry and hospice care, plus support for those with Alzheimer's and dementia, so they do cover a range of medical and daily living needs.

Residents can get help with bathing, dressing, and medication management any time of day or night, since they provide 24-hour supervision and care, and meals are cooked from scratch, with daily menus you can choose from, which gives things a homelike touch, and every room comes with a computer for resident use and free cable TV, so there's a little comfort and connection built in. There's an activity program offering different outings, recreational activities, and day programs to build life skills, and they do try to adapt these to every resident's abilities and needs, though an inspection found they sometimes didn't meet all activity needs, so there have been some challenges with keeping everyone as engaged as possible. The staff gives 4.29 nurse hours per resident per day, which lands right about at the state average, and while they are proud of their dedication to professional, personalized care, nurse turnover has been a bit higher than average at 57.1 percent, and there were some deficiencies noted in rights, quality of life, and pharmacy services, for example in how they manage medications and keep up with non-drug approaches for some residents.

Sanfield is for profit, owned by John Orestis and run by North Country Associates as a limited liability company, and it stays connected with the local community by joining in events like Hartland Fun Days or St. Albans Fun Days, which helps keep families and neighbors involved, and there's always an effort to make things feel less institutional, more like a regular home, especially in the Residential Care wing, where they put focus on comfort and safety. The center covers a wide range of services, including pain management, respite care, housing support, and different specialties, but the main aim remains steady-to provide a safe place, good meals, and a little social life, with the help you need for as long as you need it.
