    Attentive caring staff, small drawbacks

I placed my mom here and overall we were very satisfied - the staff were warm, hands-on and communicative, stayed in touch, allowed porch visits and FaceTime during COVID, coordinated hospice, and really helped us in her final days. The home-like environment, appealing meals (that roast beef was excellent), tidy grounds and friendly community felt like good value. Drawbacks: small size means limited medical monitoring (no on-site RN, can't accept sliding-scale diabetics), staff shortages/turnover, some bathroom cleanliness and maintenance issues, shared-room and few activities. Despite that, I would recommend them for attentive, caring day-to-day care.

    About Charlotte's Home Inc

Charlotte's Home Inc sits in a peaceful spot in Boonsboro, Maryland, with country surroundings and gardens, walking paths, a gazebo, and plenty of trees, and there's a focus on keeping everything very clean and tidy so you always feel comfortable and safe when you walk around, which is nice because sometimes when people get older they want to feel at home, and the caregivers-who everyone describes as caring folks-really seem to pay attention to what each person needs, taking time to get to know everyone and offering support around the clock. The place has two buildings called Charlotte's Home, Inc I and Charlotte's Home, Inc II, and both offer a home-like environment with things like spacious bedrooms, semi-private rooms with antique furniture, cozy living areas, and open-door policies so residents can come and go as they please or enjoy time with friends and staff, and visitors never have to watch the clock because the visiting hours stay open.

Meals here come out of a real kitchen, cooked fresh every day, and the food's a big part of what makes the place feel like home, with three southern-style meals approved by a dietician, and you can get snacks, kosher, and vegetarian options if that's what you like-plus there are garden areas if you want to sit outside, and cable TV and local phone calling for those who want to stay connected or entertained. Socializing is easy if you want it, with indoor and outdoor common rooms, quiet corners for movies or crafts, and a schedule full of activities, including devotional services, games, and trips; if you like history, you might like that there's an antique stove or spinning wheel in the living room, and there's a stair lift for folks who need some help getting around the house.

Charlotte's Home Inc serves seniors with a range of daily care needs, offering everything from independent living help, assisted living, and memory care in a smaller setting with just 16 licensed beds-there's a team of CNAs, med techs, and home health nurses, and services cover medication management, help with daily routines like dressing and bathing, and even mechanical lifts or standby help for those who can't get around on their own. The staff's there all day and night, and for those with memory loss like Alzheimer's or dementia, there's a secure building with its own activities, memory care plans, and a wander alert system, and bracelets to make sure no one goes missing accidentally; behavioral care is available too, with special attention for tricky moments. Residents with medical needs can get insulin shots and care from visiting therapists and nurses, and for folks who need it, there's help with transfers or non-ambulatory care.

Charlotte's Home Inc is fully licensed as a Level 1, 2, and 3 facility and Medicaid Waiver Facility, and may accept state or local subsidies if you qualify, though Medicare won't work unless there's special certification, so that's something to keep in mind; monthly prices are published and tend to be on the affordable side, and the team helps with things like housekeeping, laundry, transportation to day programs, and parking for residents-plus there's wheelchair access, shower safety features, and even smoking allowed outdoors. The management team and ownership through Purple Door, LLC keeps things running smoothly, and while the community is small, there's plenty of room for personal items so each person can bring a bit of their life with them, and people who prefer quiet are just as welcome as those who want to make friends and join group events. Overall, Charlotte's Home Inc's combination of care, home-cooked meals, southern comfort, and friendly staff give seniors a safe and relaxed place to live, especially if they're looking for a simpler life in a country setting near parks, historical places, and the small-town life of Boonsboro.
