    Compassionate care despite facility issues

I moved my mother here and overall we were glad we did. The staff are overwhelmingly friendly, caring and attentive, with excellent nursing/therapy, abundant activities, clean common areas and comforting end-of-life support. Drawbacks: the apartments are dated and sometimes hard for wheelchairs, dining quality and service are inconsistent, and I experienced slow communication, billing/transparency issues and occasional staffing shortfalls. For us the compassionate staff and medical support outweighed the problems, but ask plenty of questions about costs, accessibility and meal service before you decide.

    About Lorien Harmony Hall

Lorien Harmony Hall sits in a friendly community where trained staff help residents day and night, and you always see people around for support if anyone needs it, which gives a comforting feeling, and when you walk into Harmony Hall you notice large, one-bedroom apartments that many seniors seem to like because of their space, so folks don't feel crowded, and you're surrounded by indoor and outdoor common spaces where neighbors can visit, have coffee at the café, catch a film in the movie theater, or stop by the beauty shop, and if someone needs a meal, they serve restaurant-style dining with staff ready to help, and for lighter bites, there's a café open for residents and guests. There are always social, learning, and entertainment programs going on, with events, even charity gatherings sometimes, and organized trips to keep people moving and connected, so there's rarely nothing to do if you want to stay busy.

They run devotional services and bring in groups for activities both on and off campus, and there's free rides for those who go out or need errands, and housekeeping takes care of the cleaning so no one needs to worry about those chores, plus maintenance is on site. Home care covers companionship, skilled nursing, therapy, memory care, and hospice support, so folks have what they need as they age or recover, with modern technology and medicine in use, so, for example, residents can get physical, speech, and occupational therapy right there, and even have outpatient care or on-site dialysis if they need it.

Caregivers are friendly, helpful, and many say they're always responsive, and round-the-clock nursing and caregiving offers peace of mind for family and residents. They accept respite stays if someone needs a break or short term help, and Harmony Hall does its best to foster independence and keep life comfortable and safe for everyone. There's assisted living, rehabilitation, memory care, short-term stays, outpatient therapy, medication help, and even on-site dialysis, plus direct access to skilled nursing at Lorien Columbia if health needs change. Harmony Hall has a unique Korean senior care section for residents who feel most at home with Korean culture, activities, and services. Executive leadership keeps the place running smoothly, and information about floor plans, brochures, photos, and even virtual tours is available for anyone interested. As one of the first all-assisted living places in Maryland, Lorien Harmony Hall stays committed to supporting seniors with care that lets them feel at home while helping them stay active and enjoy each day.
