Joined Hands sits in Gaithersburg, MD, as a small assisted living home with five licensed beds, and there's a gentle routine here focused on kindness, friendliness, and helping each other out-you'll see neighbors chatting in the common areas or taking walks outdoors on the accessible paths and patios, and most everyone knows each other by name. Residents can choose between private and semi-private rooms, all fully furnished and air-conditioned, with Wi-Fi, telephones, and private baths available. Staff members provide care 24 hours a day, with help for bathing, dressing, and moving around if needed, and they'll assist with medication and coordinate doctor appointments and healthcare visits, making sure folks don't miss anything important for their health. The community runs daily activities, like movie nights or group walks in the garden, which help people stay sharp and make new friends, and the calendar's always changing with social and educational options. Seniors who struggle with memory loss get extra support through a dedicated program, and the staff helps everyone keep a sense of independence while making sure needs are met. Joined Hands can also offer respite care for families needing short-term help, and there's a team to keep up with laundry, housekeeping, and even dry cleaning, so residents don't have to worry about chores. The kitchen provides three meals a day-with vegan, vegetarian, low sodium, and other diets covered-and meals are served restaurant-style in a dining room set up for both quiet meals and socializing with others. Transportation's available for getting to medical appointments and activities outside the home, and parking is there for residents who still drive or have visitors dropping by. Regular health checks happen, including support for high medical needs, incontinence care, and non-ambulatory care, so seniors with more complicated care plans don't have to move elsewhere. The place is licensed by the state, follows all local rules, but doesn't take Medicare unless specifically certified. Joined Hands offers a full range of support, from daily help to more complex care, all in a welcoming, small-community setting where everyone's encouraged to take part in activities or just enjoy some peace and comfort as needed.
Clean homey care attentive staff
I placed my mom here and couldn't be happier. The place is extremely clean and homey, with large rooms, a big yard and garden, and real home-cooked meals. The staff are warm, professional and truly attentive - they reviewed her meds with her doctors (she was overmedicated on arrival) and she's become herself again. No surprise costs, owner/management are available and communication is good; activities are limited (bingo once a week), but the care is excellent.
