    Impressive community, pricing lacks transparency

I'm impressed - the staff here are genuinely helpful, smiling, quick to respond and knowledgeable, and the brand-new, resort-like building has gorgeous grounds, spacious, soundproof apartments, fine dining, saltwater pool, fitness, tech concierge, valet and great access to Rio/Crown shopping and medical services. Residents seem happy and engaged with endless activities, intergenerational programs and a warm, welcoming community. That said, I'm appalled that pricing is not transparent and I was quoted a higher rate based on a Jewish last name - discriminatory and unacceptable; buyers should demand clear, fair pricing. Overall it's an amazing community and worth experiencing, but go in with eyes open about costs.

About The Carnegie at Washingtonian Center

The Carnegie at Washingtonian Center offers seniors many choices for living and care, as it provides independent living, assisted living, memory care for those with Alzheimer's or dementia, and skilled nursing round the clock for folks with complicated health needs, and this place has only private rooms, each one furnished and with emergency alert systems, and they've put in a lot of work to make everything new again in a recent renovation, so it feels modern and inviting and comfortable for people moving in starting Spring 2024. The building sits on a campus shared with AlfredHouse Symphony and was thoughtfully designed for seniors to stay as active and independent as they want, but with the help nearby if they need it, and they call themselves a Kisco Signature Community, which means a focus on hospitality and daily life. The staff help with activities of daily living like bathing, dressing, eating, and medication management, and they're ready to provide meals made by professional chefs served across many dining options, so everyone gets something they enjoy, and no one has to worry about shopping or cooking. For seniors with memory loss, the Alzheimer's and Memory Care programs offer a secure setting, with specialized activities and support around the clock, including a cognitive learning center where residents can engage in memory-enhancing experiences and a dementia waiver for those with mild cognitive impairment. Those looking for rehabilitation, wound care, or 24-hour medical supervision can depend on the skilled nursing team on site. Residents can join in movie nights, book clubs, or music groups like a band or choir, and there's a state-of-the-art fitness center, heated indoor saltwater pool, yoga studio, and spaces for bridge and other community activities, so there's something for everyone, whether social or quiet. Amenities include transportation and parking services, wheelchair-accessible spaces, concierge help, and help with moving in, so families don't need to worry about those details. The community brings in local artisans and organizations, offering intellectual, artistic, and cultural programs, and keeps a schedule of hands-on learning and unique experiences so life stays interesting. They aim for a maintenance-free retirement lifestyle, with adjustable care that lets people age in place and switch care types as needs change, and club-level living and respite care are available for short-term stays, so caregivers can get a break when they need it. The whole environment was purpose-built to focus on well-being, health, and a sense of belonging, rated 6.8 out of 10 on Seniorly's community score, and designed to make life simpler and richer for seniors.
