Sunrise of Pikesville offers several types of care, so whether someone needs independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, hospice care, or just a short-term stay, they're able to find help here for daily living and health needs, and the place handles things like medication, bathing, or dressing, about as well as most would hope for, and always with respect for privacy and dignity. The suites come in different floor plans, some with kitchenettes and warm wood cabinets, with soft carpeting and big windows, so there's plenty of light, and the rooms feel cozy with simple touches making things more comfortable. The dining area serves three meals a day in a more formal room with big windows letting in the sun, and they've got this bistro that's open all hours, featuring warm lighting, hardwood floors, and even an old-fashioned popcorn maker, which gives it a nice touch that feels like home. If someone's interested in being social, they'll find nooks for quiet chats, group outings to places outside, workshops, music or literature schedules, exercise programs, and daily events that give people a reason to get out of their room. The community offers communal dining, guest meals, and plenty of arts and crafts, and manages laundry, housekeeping, linens-even private housekeeping, if that's preferred. There's a dedicated memory care program called the Reminiscence Program and another called Terrace Club, both set up to help people with dementia or Alzheimer's, with secure areas, an accessible bath with safety rails, and their own dining room with calming features and flowers on the tables. Residents can get help from staff any hour of any day, with a part-time nurse and special programs for veterans, plus religious services on site and transportation for shopping or outings. The place keeps a tidy, modern look, with friendly staff known for being cheerful and supportive. For outdoors, there are walking gardens, patios, lush landscaping, and a covered walkway at the main entrance so folks can enjoy some sunshine or just sit with neighbors. Inside, there's a grand two-story foyer, a fireplace lounge, and intimate dining areas for two, while things like salon services, physical therapy, and rehabilitation get handled there as well. Residents also enjoy home-cooked meals, and there's always a community cat and dog around for those who like animals. The facility stays busy with a focus on wellness-offering fitness and wellness programs, creative activities, and education-all designed to make residents feel at home, give them something to look forward to, and keep up with each person's wants and needs for as long as care is needed.

Pleased overall but check details
I placed my parent here and overall I'm pleased. Staff are generally professional, friendly and caring; the community is clean, homey and pet-friendly (Janie the golden retriever), with sunny rooms/kitchenettes, on-site rehab/salon/laundry, lots of activities and reliable transportation. Meals and programming are good most of the time. Caveats: staffing and communication can be inconsistent-slow call responses, occasional med/billing issues-and pricing/extra fees can be high. I'd recommend Sunrise, but tour carefully and confirm staffing levels and costs.

About Sunrise of Pikesville
About Sunrise Senior Living
Beginning with a single community in 1981, there are now more than 280 Sunrise Senior Living communities throughout the U.S. and Canada. Each of our communities maintains the mission laid out by Sunrise founders Paul and Terry Klaassen more than 40 years ago: to champion quality of life for all seniors. The Klaassens’ vision to redefine senior care resulted in a resident-centered approach to care that focuses on the individuality of each resident and has set the standard in the assisted living industry. We are defined by our people. Our team of serving hearts are guided by our mission, Principles of Service and Values – all of which help encourage independence, preserve dignity and enable freedom of choice for each resident.
