    Caring staff, concerns about accountability

I toured this quiet, rural senior home and found the staff - especially Nurse Linda - warm, experienced and very caring; the place is attractive, well-kept and affordable. That said, there was a persistent urine smell, shared upstairs rooms (there is a lift), and limited resident interaction; I also have concerns residents were being overmedicated. Most troubling: after a resident's hospital admission and death I got no return calls, and a $3,500 non-refundable deposit left the family in financial distress - a serious accountability issue. I would cautiously recommend for the caring staff and setting, but be warned about cleanliness, meds, room arrangements, and the deposit policy.

    About BayCare Assisted Living

BayCare Assisted Living in Salisbury, MD, near the Pocomoke City area, has provided care since 1996 and has a rating of 4.3 from 3 reviews, and this place helps older adults who want some independence but still need personal support for their daily lives, and most residents get private bedrooms, sometimes with small kitchenettes, and everyone has a private bath, and meals are served daily with menu choices and personalized meal plans, even for special diets, and there's always a nurse around with 24/7 medical support and medication monitoring, with Director of Nursing who's had more than 30 years' experience in the field, focused on each resident's happiness, and Linda Cornelias, who leads care, knows a lot about long-term and rehabilitative nursing, and the whole place was set up with the idea of being as comfortable and home-like as possible, so there's plenty of indoor and outdoor spots to sit and talk or just get some fresh air, and common rooms for social time and activities, which can include social, educational, and entertainment programs that keep folks busy and connected with others, and there are even onsite beautician services for anyone needing a haircut or just a bit of pampering, and the staff listens closely to every resident to understand what help is really needed, whether it's moving around, bathing, or just keeping up with medicine, and for those wanting a closer circle, there's a Residential Care Home choice, which is smaller and more homey, where everyone knows each other, and the setting stays warm and quiet without being lonely, and it's easy to get around if you use a wheelchair or need special help because the building has handicap access, Wi-Fi for staying in touch, and parking and transportation options for getting to appointments or running errands, and the team spends time watching over everyone, tailoring care plans for changing needs, so family can be sure loved ones are in an inviting and supportive place for both short-term and long-term stays, and resources are there for families, so it's not hard to get advice when long-term care decisions have to be made.
