    Lovely views, understaffed, unsafe management

I lived at Cypress Creek and loved the beautiful water views, elegant decor, clean, spacious room, and many friendly, caring caregivers who felt like family and provided excellent, compassionate moments. However, chronic understaffing/underpaying left staff overworked (even 24-hour shifts), which caused missed meds, unsafe care, rude gossip, and managers who didn't help. I also experienced missing belongings (~$500), concerning financial practices-do not keep money there-and even reports of eviction without notice and bed bugs. Owners and some staff were wonderful and ran good activities, but poor management and staff mistreatment overshadowed that. I'm grateful for the kind caregivers I knew, but would only recommend this place with major caveats or under different ownership.

    About Cypress Creek Assisted Living

Cypress Creek Waterfront Senior Living sits right along the river in Severna Park, Maryland, and folks living there get to enjoy water views from every floor, with some apartments that come with balconies or patios so residents can relax and look out over Cypress Creek and the Magothy River, and with mature trees and walking paths, along with boat slips, a fishing pier, an ADA boat dock rail with electric hook-up, and a gazebo, people can enjoy the outdoors as much as they want. The caregivers provide heavy care to residents who need a lot of help, like transferring from a bed to a wheelchair, and there's always a nurse on duty, plus visiting doctors, a geriatric psychology team, and therapy services, so help and support are right there when needed. Residents get their meals prepared for them - there's an on-site chef and a restaurant-style menu, so no one has to worry about shopping or cooking, and a dessert cart rolls around with treats, plus there's an ice cream parlor and gourmet coffee, which makes snack time kind of special, and anyone with specific dietary needs can get meals that suit them. Folks who have diabetes can get help monitoring their blood sugar, though staff won't give insulin, and there's some incontinence care if residents can manage it themselves. Residents can get hospice care and respite care, and there's a high number of staff on hand all the time with awake night staff, and everyone responds quickly in emergencies because staff is there 24 hours a day and the building has a nurse call system and security cameras with 24-hour monitoring. Residents have the choice of studio, one-bedroom, or semi-private rooms, and every room and suite has a ceiling fan, along with cable TV and phone access, plus they all have access to common spaces that make it easy for people to socialize, like a movie theater, a piano bar with cocktails, a fitness room, Las Vegas style slot machines, a beauty salon, library, and a heated therapy pool. The staff hosts regular activities like a Friday night deck party, movement and social programs, and spiritual services each week, and residents can use video teleconferencing and wireless internet, so staying in touch with family's simple. The community's been open for over 25 years, and they've made senior comfort and safety a priority with features like a commercial backup generator, security porch and door alarms, invisible security fences, and individual room thermostats, and people can use concierge services or complimentary transportation as needed for appointments or errands. Both men and women aged 55 and older live here, and the team includes care managers and skilled nurses that provide hands-on help with daily activities like bathing, dressing, managing medicine, housekeeping, and laundry - pharmacy delivery comes right to the door, making things easier. The community encourages wellness and independence, and there's a real focus on matching care to each resident's needs, with a lot of ongoing support for families through regular updates and open communication, so families always feel informed. Cypress Creek Waterfront Senior Living is locally owned and operated, and it's won several awards for its caring staff and safe, friendly atmosphere, with residents and their families often sharing good feedback about the kind and joyful team, and all the staff aim to treat everyone with dignity and respect. Tours are available for anyone who wants to see what life's like in the community.
