    Caring staff, clean home, pricey.

I toured this downtown Rockville community and felt reassured. The staff-Meg D. included-were polite, loving and attentive; caregivers seemed qualified and patient. The place is beautifully clean, cozy and home-like with a 2nd-floor chapel, salon, library, fish tank and daily activities (bingo) that keep residents engaged; meals are well prepared. Rooms are clean and updated but options are limited and some hallways are a bit dark. Service and care are excellent, but it's pricey-I'd recommend it to higher-budget families and would feel comfortable leaving my mom here.

    About Grace House

Grace House offers assisted living in a peaceful setting where staff help residents with daily tasks like bathing, dressing, grooming, and managing medication, and they offer gentle support while encouraging everyone to be as independent as they can be which honestly seems to work well for many who want to keep a bit of independence. The building has 32 private rooms each with its own bath, with studio and one-bedroom options people can bring their own things and decorate, the community's two stories mean there's plenty of cozy spots like the living room with fireplace, a sitting room, hair salon, library, TV room, and a nice outdoor patio for sitting or watching birds in the wooded backyard. There's staff on site all day and night, a comprehensive call system for emergencies, and weekly housekeeping with laundry service plus daily checks from staff so residents' needs don't go overlooked, which tends to bring peace of mind to most families. Grace House gives access to specialty healthcare and visiting nurse practitioners, plus regular transportation for outings or appointments, so people don't feel isolated or stuck, and there's help for non-ambulatory residents as well. Meals are homemade and served three times a day in the dining area, and devotional services happen offsite if you want to attend. You'll find a garden for fresh air, scenic walking paths, and an arts room designed for creative projects, with a full calendar of activities like bingo, movie nights, crafts, and resident-run events that give everyone a way to participate if they wish, though sometimes they adjust due to things like COVID. The staff focus on treating each person with respect and make sure support is tailored to each resident, so even those who need more help can still feel like part of a community, and the place keeps clean and tidy, which people notice. There's WiFi across the building for those who want it and common areas are well-furnished for group gatherings or quiet time. Grace House partners with local churches like St. Patrick's in Rockville and Our Lady of Grace in Silver Spring, and sits in a nice neighborhood with parks and a diverse feel, so folks often see wildlife or enjoy the peaceful backyard patio, and maintenance-free living means residents don't have to worry about chores or repairs. The focus here stays on providing a safe and pleasant environment where seniors can live with help, but still be themselves, and everything from health checks to meals to social events is meant to support that.
