    Warm staff but safety concerns

I toured this place and found the staff warm, respectful and very attentive - residents looked happy and well cared for. However, I heard disturbing reports about safety/monitoring, management behavior and a bed-bug incident, so I'd proceed cautiously despite the great caregiving.

    About Meadowview Assisted Living

Meadowview Assisted Living sits at 3700 Meadowview Drive in Suitland, Maryland, and stands as a small, supportive community with five total assisted living units designed especially for seniors who need help with daily life, whether that's bathing, dressing, walking, or managing medications, and there's always trained staff around all day and night to step in where help's needed, including for those who have memory care needs, diabetes, Parkinson's, or mobility challenges. Folks find privacy in spacious studios, shared apartments, or single bedrooms, each with ADA-compliant bathrooms, cable TV, emergency call systems, and handicap-accessible features, and the rooms come furnished, with regular housekeeping and maintenance so things stay tidy and comfortable, plus there's always laundry and linen service available and Wi-Fi to stay connected. The facility takes safety seriously, with features like a sprinkler system, smoke alarms, 24-hour secured premises, and vigilant staff keeping an eye on the residents, and guests can use the available parking while residents enjoy landscaped walking paths or rest in public living areas, the big library, game room, TV room, or theatre area. For meals, there are chef-inspired dishes with healthy snacks, diabetic-friendly options, low sodium choices, vegetarian and vegan menus, even pureed food or allergy-sensitive meals when needed, and dining times are flexible because staff prepares and serves meals throughout the day, including a bistro and snack shop for extra bites. Regular health support comes from monthly physician visits, a registered nurse on site, ongoing resident health monitoring, and medication management, and staff help with everything from daily checkups to intervention programs or physical therapy, including specialized care for feeding when that becomes necessary. Those who have trouble getting around can count on transfer assistance or help with wheelchairs, and there's valet service, transportation to appointments, and even friendly drives for community outings or special events along with case management and pharmacy delivery. The community runs daily activities-arts and crafts, spiritual services, gardening, movie nights, games, and off-site trips-plus there's a chapel, salon, massage therapy, and a fitness center to keep minds and bodies busy, with both independent living fun and structured wellness programs. Meadowview has a warm, caring environment where staff focus on kindness, paying close attention to each resident's care plan, whether the need is respite care for a short stay, memory support, help with incontinence, or just daily routines, and the place is known for being friendly but straightforward, with a 3.5-star rating on seven reviews, showing that families feel it's a good, dependable place for their loved ones to live comfortably and safely in the Washington Metro Area.
