    Kind staff, clean rooms, happy

I placed my mom here and she absolutely loves it - the staff are kind, patient and hardworking, and it truly feels like one big happy family. Rooms are clean and large, laundry and food are good, the dementia ward is very nice, and there are lots of daily activities (she especially enjoys Wednesday outings). Only negatives: the two-person shared-bathroom floor plan and a slight smell in the ward, and there was a short, expected adjustment period.

    About The Dunroven

The Dunroven sits as a small and close community inside the Fenwick Landing Senior Care Community in Waldorf, Maryland, where folks get a mix of services, and whether someone needs more support or just a little help with daily things like dressing, bathing, or moving about, staff stay nearby to lend a hand, and they really put care first, even for people needing high support, like those with late-stage Alzheimer's or other stable, ongoing health problems. Seniors here can choose between more independent living-meant for active people usually aged 55 or 62 and up-or get extra care in assisted living or board and care, with each person finding the right level of help. The buildings stick to simple comforts, with private bedrooms, a sunny living room, a cheerful sunroom, and both indoor and outdoor spots for relaxing or joining in with others, plus a backyard gazebo and a fountain. The community allows pets, brings in beauticians for convenience, and holds devotional services for spiritual support if that matters to someone.

Residents can count on housekeeping, laundry, and linen services, so chores don't pile up, and all rooms come fully furnished, with cable TV, WiFi, and wheelchair-accessible showers, with the whole place designed so folks with wheelchairs or walkers move around safely. The staff cook home-style meals-usually one or two a day-tailored to dietary needs like diabetes or special diets, and meal planners focus on nutrition as much as flavor, making sure everyone eats well. A skilled nurse team, plus physical, occupational, and speech therapists, along with podiatrists and dentists, come as needed, and there's always someone available for medical supervision, medication management, and help with personal care or incontinence.

For those who need it, The Dunroven gives memory care programs with activities that help keep minds sharp, and day-to-day support continues around the clock, so residents with memory problems get the right structure and safety. There's also adult day care, respite for caregivers who need a break, and even hospice care for end-of-life support, which means a family doesn't have to move someone away if their needs change. Folks enjoy daily activities, social gatherings, and outings, and there's transportation to appointments or errands when needed, though sometimes it comes at an added cost, but parking for residents is always available. People find a friendly, approachable atmosphere with a high staff-to-resident ratio, and staff here have experience with complex care needs while aiming to keep everyone as independent and comfortable as possible.
