    Warm staff, lovely facility, costly

I moved my mom in and found a homey, newly renovated, spotless place with spacious rooms, nice grounds and pleasant decor. The staff were warm, welcoming and attentive - move-in was smooth, nursing and activities teams know residents by name, meals are restaurant-style and there are plenty of daily programs. It's a small, low-key community where people seem relaxed and engaged. The biggest downside is the cost (and I've heard isolated concerns about medical responsiveness/understaffing), but overall mom loves it and I'd recommend it if your budget allows.

About Benchmark Senior Living at Putnam Farm

Benchmark Senior Living at Putnam Farm sits high on a hill on Summer Street in Danvers, Massachusetts, right next to the Hunt Center, and you'll notice the country manor look with its gambrel-style roof, broad porch, and views clear over tree tops on a good day, which help set a peaceful mood while the place itself feels much like a regular neighborhood with walking paths, flower beds, and a patio for sitting a while to watch the world; the building houses all sorts of living options, including assisted living, independent living, memory care, skilled nursing, respite, and adult day care, as well as a whole range of support services for short-term and long-term needs, and the staff, who go through regular quality training, handle the basics like medication reminders, bathing, and dressing, plus more advanced care for folks dealing with memory loss or rehab after hospital stays, and they run specific programs like the Settlers Program and Homestead Day Program for folks with Alzheimer's or dementia, as well as support for caregivers, and because the property is a continuing care retirement community, residents don't have to move if their needs change.

Residents can choose private studio or two-bedroom apartments, all with kitchenettes, full bathrooms, and emergency call systems, and there's a good amount of privacy plus help as needed, along with weekly housekeeping, laundry, linen service, internet, and 24-hour emergency maintenance. Meals are cooked in-house with chef-driven menus, adjusted for dietary needs if necessary, and there's a nice community dining room with options for private dining during events, and the staff also help out by providing concierge services, rides to appointments, and outings for shopping, a coffee at Starbucks, or walks in local parks.

The property has a library, game room, fitness center, resident lounge, beauty/barber shop, and elevators, plus friendly spots outside like broad patios, gardens, and walking paths, all with a view of the neighborhood or surrounding woods, and there's free parking and transportation for errands, doctor visits, and group excursions, which helps residents stay involved in town life, whether visiting the nearby Geriatric Care Center, CVS, or local churches. Pets are allowed, and there's help for every level-independent folks, those who just need help with a few things, and folks needing full-time care or rehab, and because the place used to be called Heritage at Danvers, sometimes you'll still hear older locals use that name.

Social programs fill the week, with activities aimed at keeping people engaged physically, mentally, and emotionally, and there are special memory care events for those with cognitive impairment. The reputation of the place is strong, with good reviews from residents and families, and it's even won some local awards for service and lifestyle. Benchmark Senior Living at Putnam Farm doesn't promise the moon, but it does offer a safe, well-cared-for place, with personal touches and a bit of a homey vibe, for older adults who want comfort, care, and a good view out their window.
