    About Chosen Vision

Chosen Vision is an organization dedicated to addressing the significant and growing housing needs of adults with developmental disabilities in Michigan. As the state sees a rising number of citizens with such challenges and increased longevity among the population, the gap between available housing facilities and the needs of developmentally disabled adults widens each year. In response, Chosen Vision has undertaken initiatives designed to offer a supportive and independent living environment for these individuals, enabling them to become more self-sufficient while benefiting from a sense of community.

One of Chosen Vision’s latest developments is the Dewitt home, known as Chosen Vision-Dewitt. This residential project focuses on providing a nurturing, family-like atmosphere specifically for high-functioning, developmentally disabled women. The Dewitt home features a spacious design at 3,800 square feet and accommodates six residents. Each individual has a private bedroom, ensuring they have their own personal space, which can be decorated according to their own tastes and preferences—a key element in fostering autonomy and comfort.

The support structure at Chosen Vision-Dewitt is carefully engineered to balance independence with safety. A full-time staff member is present around the clock to ensure the well-being and security of each resident, complemented by part-time direct care workers who further support daily routines and engagement. This approach fosters both safety and the personal growth of residents, helping them grow in confidence and social skills.

The development of the DeWitt residence has been a phased project, involving significant fundraising efforts to match the needs of its future residents. With the exterior of the home already completed, current initiatives are focused on completing the interior, including the critical drywall stage. Chosen Vision draws on community support and participation to fulfill its mission, continually seeking ways to expand opportunities and quality of life for adults with developmental disabilities. Through projects like the DeWitt home, Chosen Vision shows a clear commitment to inclusivity, respect, and the empowerment of those it serves.
