    Clean friendly vibrant senior community

I live at North Woods Place and overall I'm very happy - the building is spotless, the staff are friendly, professional and truly go above and beyond (special shoutouts to Nicki and Dax), and residents are active and engaged with great activities, PT and entertainers. The atmosphere is uplifting and non-institutional, maintenance is responsive, and caregivers are caring and attentive. Be aware the food can be hit-or-miss (some tasty meals but also cold/processed dishes and few fresh veggies), it's expensive, and it's not suited for high-level memory or skilled nursing needs; there have also been occasional staffing/management hiccups and one medication-theft incident that was handled. Despite those caveats, I'd recommend it for a vibrant, clean, and welcoming senior community.

    About LakeHouse Escanaba

LakeHouse Escanaba offers a warm, homelike environment where folks can choose from cozy apartments, either studio or one-bedroom layouts, and there's plenty of room for comfort with carpeting, roomy closets, storage, heating and air conditioning, plus window treatments, and even pets are welcome if someone's got a companion. Residents enjoy meals served in a central dining area, wine and cheese socials in banquet-style all-purpose rooms, and indoor areas for games, movies, and chatting with neighbors, while outdoors there are flower beds, patios, and spots made for relaxing or socializing, which is nice when the weather's right. The place supports seniors through Assisted Living and Memory Care along with Respite Care, so whether someone needs just a little help or more hands-on support, the full-time registered nurse is there around the clock, and staff work with families to create adaptable care plans, making sure daily living activities or extra needs are handled with attention.

LakeHouse Escanaba hosts community outings, art programs, worship services including church, rosary, and communion, and has a lounge, beauty and barber shop, and classes like Sit and Be Fit with the local YMCA, all aiming to support residents' health and spirits. There's a coffee shop, and folks get front desk service, plus things like housekeeping, laundry, and transportation, so folks can keep busy if they want or rest if they need it. Specialized amenities help adults living with Alzheimer's or dementia get the help they need, and the community keeps a connection with a nearby rehab facility that has a pool and fitness room. People can get advice about funding senior care, asset transfers, and planning for the future, including estate and veterans' benefits, since they offer guidance and resources for families sorting through long-term care and retirement plans. Mailboxes inside, kitchenettes and fridge/freezers in apartments, and walk-in showers add to daily ease, and there's always something happening for those who like game nights or social events.

Every bit of care at LakeHouse Escanaba is designed to help seniors live as independently as they can, with support available if health changes, and a staff that really tries to create a friendly place where everyone's welcome to join in or have quiet time if that's what they want.
