DS Heavenly Haven is a private company dedicated to serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Established in 2006, DS Heavenly Haven’s mission is to help its residents achieve greater independence and integration within the community. At its inception, the first residents moved in under the same roof as the founder, Sherri Semans, setting a foundation of personalized, compassionate care that continues to shape the company’s philosophy today.
Over the years, DS Heavenly Haven expanded its capacity to serve more people by opening its first group home, and has since grown to operate four group homes throughout Owosso, Michigan. Each of these residences provides a warm, supportive atmosphere, with individual homes accommodating between one and eight residents. The homes are designed to foster a sense of belonging and self-fulfillment, with soothing environments that encourage relaxation and personal development.
Central to DS Heavenly Haven’s approach is a commitment to person-centered care, ensuring that each individual’s needs, preferences, and aspirations are respected and prioritized. Residents benefit from adult foster care options that emphasize independence and community engagement, as well as day programs that offer fulfilling and purposeful activities. The staff at DS Heavenly Haven are carefully selected for their friendliness, dedication, and compassion, and are certified and trained to deliver the highest standard of direct care. With a team of about fifteen individuals working in various shifts, residents receive continuous support tailored to their schedules and requirements.
Today, DS Heavenly Haven serves approximately twenty-five residents, providing a close-knit and supportive environment where individuals can thrive. The day programs offered are designed to be both relaxing and enriching, helping residents to develop new skills, pursue interests, and build relationships. Through its growth, DS Heavenly Haven has remained true to its founding vision of nurturing independence, dignity, and a sense of community among all residents.
