Beacon Pointe Assisted Living, Richland sits at 8774 N 32nd Street in downtown Richland and is one of the Dockerty Family's family-owned communities spread across Michigan, and since opening in November 2020, it's offered person-centered care for seniors, including Assisted Living, Independent Living, Memory Care, home care, respite care, nursing home options, and continuing care, so you see a place where older folks find different kinds of help as their needs change, and the staff really try to treat people with dignity and kindness, offering assistance with daily tasks like bathing, getting dressed, managing medicines, and more routine chores, which makes the place pretty inviting if you ask around because you'll notice the people working there go above and beyond in being helpful, joyful, and caring towards residents. There are only 24 apartments in total, which means you get a homier, smaller feel, and the apartments are modern and come in studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom options, each with a private bath and shower and its own little kitchenette, so it feels almost like living at home but with the added safety of regular check-ins and support from well-trained staff. Over in the Memory Care Suites, you'll see rooms and programs designed for people living with memory loss or dementia, and those are set apart to give more focused care, which is useful if someone needs more specialized attention. Executive Director Heidi manages the day-to-day operations, and if you ever get curious about the place or want to see it for yourself, the community encourages people to come for a tour any day between 9AM and 5PM, and the staff will take the time to walk you through, let you see the amenities, and even meet other residents so you don't have to wonder what daily life there looks like. The kitchen serves nutritious meals prepared with quality ingredients, and the place is set up to make life easier for seniors, with both active and quieter options for folks who like to engage with the community or just keep to themselves, and you'll also hear that the facility has good standing with A Place for Mom, which gives people access to advisors in case you want guidance on deciding if Beacon Pointe's the right fit for your needs. You'll notice people talk about how the thoughtful design and range of services really suit different care stages, and while nobody calls it perfect, it seems like somewhere focused on respect and making people comfortable.

Bright, spacious rooms; caring staff
I'm impressed by the bright, spacious room and the incredibly clean, home-like facility. Caregivers are kind, attentive, and provide excellent daily care (meds, bathing, wheelchair help), meals are prepared in-house and tasty with good variety, and the activities calendar is lively and engaging. Residents and staff are friendly, but management/owners can be disengaged and slow to address complaints - that's my main concern.
