The team is well-trained to identify, report, and help protect residents from physical, emotional, financial, and sexual abuse or neglect, acting as mandated reporters to ensure the safety and dignity of all elders.
The center offers comprehensive support through its Elder Advocates, who assist residents with essential activities and daily needs. These advocates provide transportation for medical appointments, county visits, grocery shopping, and the delivery of Commodities/Naps boxes. They further aid with banking, social security matters, health insurance information, and completion of county paperwork, ensuring residents have access to the resources and services they need. Elder Advocates also accompany residents to county appointments, offering not only logistical support but also companionship.
Home visits are available through Red Cedar Assisted Living Center, offering assistance with light house cleaning and providing a compassionate, listening ear. The staff understands the importance of emotional support and strives to create meaningful connections with each resident. Emergency assistance is also available for residents facing extraordinary needs, ensuring that help is readily accessible during challenging times.
Residents and eligible community members may qualify for specialized programs that enhance their health and independence. Leech Lake Elders aged 55 years and older are eligible for the Eye Glasses, Denture & Hearing Aid Program, which requires participants to utilize Indian Health Services. The center can arrange for the provision of certain medical equipment for elders and disabled band members, based on a doctor’s prescription when necessary.
Health promotion and disease prevention are vital components of the care provided at Red Cedar Assisted Living Center. The facility delivers outreach health care services, utilizing well-trained community health representatives to offer home health aid services. These include personal grooming, monitoring vital signs, grocery shopping, food distribution and prescription delivery, and respite care. The center also coordinates medical transportation, ensuring that residents can safely attend both local and out-of-town medical appointments when referred by Indian Health Services.
