New Challenges is an adult day services provider that offers essential support and care for older adults and individuals with disabilities who have functional limitations and require supervised care outside their homes during the day. Since opening its doors in December 2015, New Challenges has focused on delivering personalized and coordinated programs that aim to maintain or improve each participant’s ability to care for themselves. The organization caters to individuals who benefit from services designed to promote health, social well-being, and nutrition, all within a structured setting dedicated to enhancing overall quality of life.
The services at New Challenges revolve around individualized programs of activities and care, tailored following an in-depth assessment and the creation of a service plan. These plans are intended to address specific needs and establish concrete outcomes, supporting each person’s independence and daily functioning to the greatest possible extent. In addition to supervised care, participants have access to a variety of activities aimed at fostering social interaction and physical or cognitive engagement, all facilitated in an inviting and supportive environment.
New Challenges is equipped to meet the needs of individuals who qualify under several funding streams, enabling access for those with different backgrounds and care requirements. The provider serves people with waivers including the Alternative Care Waiver, Brain Injury Waiver, Community Access for Disability Inclusion Waiver, Developmental Disabilities Waiver, and the Elderly Waiver, as well as Essential Community Supports and other payment options. This comprehensive approach ensures that each person, whether covered by specific programs or private arrangements, can receive the support they need.
Eligibility for accessing adult day services at New Challenges is determined by specific guidelines related to age and previous service use, as defined under the Home and Community Based Services settings rule. Individuals who were already using adult day services before 2021, regardless of age, may continue to do so if they are assessed to require this level of support and choose to participate. For new service users, the program is open to those age 55 and older, providing a path for continued social activity and daily supervision. Those under age 55 who have never accessed this service are directed to alternative day programs that cater to their age group and needs.
Throughout its operation, New Challenges has remained committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive community environment, centered on the well-being, dignity, and independence of each participant. By emphasizing individualized care plans, a diverse array of daily programs, and flexible funding options, New Challenges continues to serve as a vital resource for individuals and families in need of adult day care services.
