    Disorganized facility but caring staff

I lived at this senior living facility and had a deeply mixed, mostly negative experience. There was constant staff and management turnover - months without a director, nurse, or kitchen staff, heavy reliance on out-of-state corporate floaters, broken call buttons and unacceptable response times leaving residents unattended. Administration was disorganized and often dictatorial, shifting duties to families, arguing about payment, and billing for services that weren't provided; I also encountered medication ordering/administration errors and what felt like inappropriate increases in psychotropic use without clear physician orders. Meals, activities, and overall care quality were poor, and I heard reports of falls and other serious incidents (there are documented DHS issues). That said, many direct-care staff were wonderful and caring - leaving felt like leaving family - but overall I left for another facility and cannot recommend this place.

The staff stays on-site around the clock and helps residents with things like bathing, dressing, medication management, and answering emergencies, and they work with families to make care plans that match each person's needs and interests. There's a big focus on nutrition, so residents get fresh, well-made meals-with options for guest meals too-and the kitchen team pays attention to individual preferences, especially for those with memory issues, and they use sensory programs to make the dining experience more welcoming. The memory care staff uses sensory features, gentle exercise, and music activities to help residents feel comfortable, and they offer brain fitness programs like Dakim to stimulate the mind. Community areas act as cozy gathering spots, whether folks want to chat, read, play games, or join in arts and crafts, and there's a movie theater, a game room, a beauty salon, and a barber shop right on site. People can visit the enclosed courtyard or stroll along walking paths, plus the outdoor spaces bring in fresh air and greenery, and pets are welcome too. Activities here cover a wide range, including gardening, balloon volleyball, group fitness classes, cooking demonstrations, outings, and happy hours, while a full-time activity director keeps things lively and organized. Residents get help with housekeeping and laundry, and the building is fully accessible for those with mobility needs, with high-speed Wi-Fi throughout. The community feels small and comfortable, always with a friendly atmosphere, and the staff's kindness and patience often get noticed. Volante Senior Living of Hanover has received awards for its care, and families looking for short-term help can use respite care services. Safety stays a top concern, so emergency devices and accessible designs come standard. Every day brings a new chance for connection and purpose because the staff wants residents to feel included, healthy, and supported, adapting care to the changing needs of old age, and if someone wants a firsthand look, tours-either in person or virtual-are easy to set up.
