    Beautiful facility, inconsistent care, pricey

I toured and had a loved one stay briefly. The building is beautiful, very clean and newer, with nice apartments (studio to 2-bed/den), a sunny dining room, many activities, memory care and Parkinson's programs. Staff were friendly, caring and helpful-answered questions and kept people engaged. Food and dining service are generally good but inconsistent; some meals were poor. Care responsiveness and medication handling were uneven (slow responses, occasional mix-ups, delayed start of services), and privacy/management issues surfaced but later showed improvement. The campus is large and lovely but hard to navigate and car-dependent. It's expensive-worth it to some, but above my budget. Overall I'd recommend it if you can afford it and stay vigilant about care details.

    About Highview Hills by Vivie

Highview Hills by Vivie sits in Lakeville, Minnesota, right on Co. Rd. 50 across from Aronson Park, with St. John's Lutheran Church and Quigley Syme Park close by, and the Heritage Library not far away, and the whole place tries to make things easier for older adults who want a home that feels safe but still active. There are 119 apartments, including studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom layouts, some with names like The Dakota, The Oaks, The Dodd, The Lynwood, and The Valley, as well as The Ritter, The Lake Villa, The Quail, The Aronson, The Lakeridge, Chadwick, Casperson, CherryView, Kensington, Foxborough, Fieldstone, Knollwood, Fairfield, and Kabot, and apartment sizes range from studios to private rooms, so people can pick something that fits what they need, and small pets can come too. The building is modern, with big sunny lobbies, high ceilings, large bright windows, community sitting spots, a bar area with plenty of seats, a game room with a pool table, and a library, along with walking paths, gardens, a fitness center, a hair salon and barber, a movie theater, and guest and covered parking, plus Wi-Fi throughout and rooms that can come furnished with phones.

The community allows people to choose between Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Continuing Care, so those who move in can often stay as their needs change, and Highview Hills accommodates seniors needing everything from independent lifestyles to daily help like bathing, dressing, or moving around, with special services for people with Alzheimer's or dementia in their secure memory care area, where support staff provide 24-hour care and run activities that help memory and social engagement. The staff includes a nurse, plus other care professionals, and help is close by for medication management, incontinence, dressing, bathing, transfers, diabetes, non-ambulatory needs, and hospice or dementia waiver care. Jennie Tainter is the sales manager, and the team focuses on making the place comfortable, safe, and respectful, trying to make life easier day to day, arranging things like move-in help, housekeeping, laundry, dry cleaning, daily meals, and transportation for appointments and errands, with scheduled rides and guest parking for visitors.

Meals come restaurant-style in a dining room with a big menu, and choices are available all day, including special diets for allergies or diabetes, and social spaces help residents visit with each other over games, movies, or table activities, along with faith-based offerings for those interested. The property features a secured courtyard and outdoor places to relax, a busy calendar of activities, outings off campus for those who want a change of scenery, and a flexible program to help residents stay as independent as possible while also having support ready when they need it, and there's an emergency alert and call system at all times. Concierge services run from the early morning to the evening, Monday to Friday, with helpful staff close by, and Highview Hills tries to keep a sense of home with thoughtful touches like coral patterns and sunny corners, and welcomes a mix of people-those looking for a vibrant retirement community and those who need more hands-on care, as well as those who just need a short-term stay for respite care to give caregivers a break. The building is age-restricted and part of the Elder Resource Association - South of the River, with connections to many different senior-focused resources in the area, and the community also publishes an annual directory called The Resource Guide for extra information.
