Volunteers of America of MN has been around for over 125 years and is a big nonprofit based in Minneapolis, running more than 110 different locations around Minnesota and offering services for people of all ages, from babies to seniors, and you end up finding that they run everything from youth wrap-around services to support for veterans and older folks with things like housing help, mental health care, and food assistance, as well as offering education programs, residential care for people with disabilities, and behavioral health support, and if you look at their programs, you'll see they cover just about every area of life, from running thrift stores and food pantries, to having residential treatment centers where kids and families work on their mental health and communication, and even help people with affordable housing, guardianship services, and decision making, and then because they try to cover the whole person, they also have estate and elder law help, home health services, caregiver and meal programs, long-term care, in-home supports, and things like the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly, so that as people age or hit tough spots in life, the support is really wide-ranging and aimed at keeping people in the community and doing as well as they can, and, since they put a lot of focus on community well-being, their programs reach over 24,000 people each year in Minnesota and Wisconsin and include spiritual care, behavioral health, Amicus community reentry for folks coming out of prison, and quite a few programs for people with special needs or disabilities, all of which fit into their goal of building thriving, resilient communities across the area, so that whether someone needs mental health help, somewhere safe to live, education options, help with addiction, food, or even some legal guidance as they get older, Volunteers of America of MN has services scattered across 16 special homes and 70-plus programs, all focused on helping people keep their dignity and live more independent, connected lives.
