    About Aging Services For Communities

Aging Services For Communities helps seniors and people with disabilities stay in their own homes as long and as safely as they can, and it's a non-profit licensed by the state of Minnesota that covers many counties across southern Minnesota, including Brown, Dakota, Nicollet, Scott, Waseca, Blue Earth, Le Sueur, Rice, and Steele. The services include assisted living for folks who want help with daily activities but still want to be part of an active and social group, and they offer memory care for those with dementia, keeping everyone safe through supervision and secured spaces. Staff can help with things like dressing, bathing, meal preparation, medication, laundry, light housekeeping, transfers, sorting mail, and taking out the trash, and they're trained and qualified with support for folks with mild cognitive challenges, hospice needs, and dementia or Alzheimer's, always with 24-hour supervision and coordination with doctors if needed. There are room features like emergency alert systems, telephones, simple furnishings, and wheelchair-accessibility to keep the place safe and easy to use, and the social side gets plenty of attention too, since there are movie nights, community events, resident-run activities, arts rooms, walking paths, and gardens, as well as a barber or salon, dining rooms with special meal options, and scheduled group events. Homemaker services cover the basics to let you focus on the hobbies you care about, and the staff includes friendly homemakers, volunteer drivers, and new adult companion caregivers added in 2025. They bring in reliable transportation services for seniors, youth, and people with disabilities, with both medical and non-medical rides provided by volunteer drivers, even reaching areas as far as the Twin Cities for low-income folks and others who need it. Home management and respite care let family caregivers take a break, while safety checks and health observations keep everyone up to date on how clients are doing. There's a focus on independence, but help's always close by, and there's care for people on private pay at $35 an hour with a two-hour minimum, and for those with Medicaid assistance through plans like BluePlus by Bridgeview, DHS, Medica, MVAC, or UCare. The organization offers a lot of community classes for free, like fitness sessions, safety workshops, and evidence-based programs run with Catholic Charities, such as SAIL, Living Well with Chronic Pain, and Money Smart for Older Adults, plus lifelong learning, Smart Driving, and volunteering through programs like Senior Corps. There's a connection with places like FiftyNorth and the Northfield Senior Center for more classes and social options, there's an art gallery and café, and congregate dining helps folks eat together. People can also get help with grocery shopping, nutrition programs, moving, finding housing, or joining outdoor recreation and group fitness. Aging Services For Communities keeps up their Certificate Of Registration For Home Management, doesn't take Medicare unless they're certified, and gets licensed and registered individually by the city, county, or state. They build peace of mind for families who need help caring for loved ones, support older adults who want to keep active and independent, and encourage volunteering so everyone can contribute to the community and stay connected.
