    Warm facility but safety concerns

I appreciated the warm, single-level facility, private-room option, great comfort-food meals, beautiful grounds and many kind, dedicated staff who made my dad comfortable. However, persistent management problems, staff turnover/overwork, maintenance and safety issues (broken bathrooms, poor alarm response, reports of medication errors/theft and minimal staff-resident interaction) make me cautious - verify improvements before deciding.

    About Valley View Assisted Living

Valley View Assisted Living provides different levels of help for seniors who want a safe place to live but need support with daily tasks like bathing, dressing, or managing their medicine, and the staff includes licensed nurses, home health aides, and qualified care providers who are available day and night for emergencies or assistance moving around, and they'll even help transfer residents from beds to wheelchairs if needed, though they can only monitor blood sugar levels and can't give insulin shots, so they do prefer residents need a medium level of care rather than the highest. There are several kinds of rooms, like large private studios with their own bathrooms, apartments for couples, and private cottages for more independent residents, with the Northfield location being one level and in a quiet suburban area while Jordan has three stories and extra features like dining rooms, lounges, and decks on every floor for security and comfort. The community has wheelchair accessible apartments and showers, cozy lounges, both indoor and outdoor sitting spaces, and a special vented tobacco room for smokers at Northfield, while both sites offer easy parking and transportation services, including access to Northfield Transit which is handicap accessible.

Meals are provided for all residents, which does help keep meal costs and cooking time down, and there are community dining rooms, kitchens, and even phone desks and libraries on each floor for easy use, while safety is a high priority with 24-hour awake staff, security features, and stand-by help for people who need support getting from place to place. A nurse practitioner visits every two weeks, and a licensed psychotherapist comes once a week, and the community also offers onsite homecare, hospice, and both basic and comprehensive assisted living services, and there's also care for Alzheimer's and memory needs.

Residents have access to scheduled transportation for shopping trips, doctor visits, and outings, while activities are structured to boost happiness, with things like daily bingo, monthly music shows, crafts, community walks, outings to local places, work options at a sheltered workshop, and drop-in support centers-plus pet-friendly rules, so residents can bring animals with them. Seasonal events like a spring fashion show with the Girl Scouts and holiday celebrations help everyone stay connected, with daily activities to support mental, social, and physical health. Residents age 55 and older can move in, and the community tries to make things affordable, accepting several waivers and payment types. Valley View Assisted Living aims to treat everyone with dignity, offering what they call The Best Deal In Town, with an older, cozy atmosphere, and an environment that helps residents feel independent while staying safe and busy. Smoking's allowed in both indoor and outdoor public spaces.
