    Caring staff clean facility comfortable

I moved my mother here and, overall, I'm satisfied: the staff are caring, the facility is clean, meals are decent, and there are regular activities that keep her engaged. Communication about care and unexpected charges could be better, but I feel she's safe and comfortable.

    About Wilkinson County Nursing Center

Wilkinson County Senior Care sits at 116 S Lafayette Street in Centreville, Mississippi, and offers a wide range of services for older adults, covering assisted living, memory care, nursing home care, independent living, skilled nursing, home care, rehabilitation, respite care, hospice care, and adult day care, which means they try their best to cover most needs for people as they age, and they've got both short-term rehab and long-term stays, and the facility runs things like inpatient care with data showing about 35 discharges over a reporting period and an average length of stay of around 599 days, and they've got 105 beds total, with 60 certified by Medicare and Medicaid and a state-certified Alzheimer's unit for people who need help with memory problems.

The care team offers 24-hour nursing support with a call system and supervision to help keep folks safe, and the nurses manage a 12-16 hour staffing model which means the staff changes over a couple times a day but someone's always around, and they cover a wide set of health needs like wound care, diabetes management, dialysis support, IV therapy, catheter care, ostomy care, pain management, medication help, incontinence programs, and even complex things like behavioral support and palliative or end-of-life care, and in-house doctors visit regularly.

Meals come planned by a registered dietician, so folks with special diets get what they need, and rooms can be private or semi-private with free DIRECTV, so there's a little comfort and entertainment built in, and residents can get their hair cut or styled at the on-site beauty and barber shop, plus transportation for community trips is provided, and there are places to visit within the facility like the dining room, wellness and fitness rooms, computer center, garden and outdoor spaces, and a small library, so people can keep their minds and bodies as busy as they want with scheduled daily activities, social programs, day trips, and community events.

For those who need extra help, the staff helps with bathing, dressing, transfers, and medication, and they offer comprehensive rehabilitation with physical, occupational, and speech therapy delivered on-site, so folks recovering from injuries, illness, or surgery can do their therapy right there, and services include help with things like fall safety, gait training, balance, strength, and community transition planning.

The facility is individually owned and isn't part of a hospital, and it's certified for both Medicare and Medicaid, so payment can match a lot of people's needs, and it's got an emergency generator just in case, and their health survey as of late March 2024 listed 5 deficiencies while their fire survey had no deficiencies, so they're keeping an eye on safety, while the overall star rating from surveys gives a picture of their day-to-day care. Social services help with resident needs, and staff aim to help people stay as independent as possible while giving skilled support, always working to improve quality of life by mixing strong medical care with daily life activities and a safe, friendly place to live.
