George Regional Health & Rehab sits in Lucedale, Mississippi, and it has been helping folks since back when George County Hospital first opened its doors for 26 patients in 1950, and over the years it's grown into a 60-bed nursing home with a direct connection to George Regional Hospital, and they've added a new 7,000 square foot wing that includes six extra resident rooms with private bathrooms, which makes people feel a lot more comfortable during their stay. The staff here focuses on what each person needs, offering care for both long-term and short-term residents, and they help with recovery after an injury, management of ongoing health problems, or just aiming to keep people living well, and they've got licensed therapists for physical, speech, and occupational therapy to help folks regain movement, improve daily life, and keep communicating, because sometimes that's tough after certain illnesses or injuries. You'll find wound care, respite care, memory care programs, skilled nursing services, and rehabilitation therapy all available, so whether someone just needs help for a little while or a place to live and get ongoing support, there's a wide mix of care options. It's a community-owned, not-for-profit place with a long-time focus on personal, compassionate care, and the health system as a whole has clinics and specialty centers in places like Leakesville and Wiggins, all across Mississippi, with a lot of experienced doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and therapists working together. The facility itself shares its address with George Regional Hospital, and this setup means you get easier access to other medical departments when needed, like the Birth Center, Radiology, Pharmacy, Cardiology, Sleep Center, Infusion Therapy, Pediatrics, Family Medicine, Respiratory Therapy, Orthopedics, Surgery, OB/GYN, Wellness Center, and more, plus you're looked after no matter if you've got private insurance, Medicaid, or Medicare. The staff pays attention to making everyone feel at home and helps people get involved in social, spiritual, and recreational activities, always aiming to make things as welcoming as possible while respecting people's comfort and dignity. So, George Regional Health & Rehab is a place for seniors and those recovering from illness or injury, and folks can expect a wide group of healthcare services under one roof, all with the goal of keeping the community healthy and comfortable in both body and spirit.

Unsafe care, inconsistent staff, helpful
I stayed here and experienced serious safety and communication failures: I had falls under their care, medication was changed without physician approval or family notification, and my brain-bleed condition worsened without proper updates - I felt at risk. Staffing was inconsistent (CNAs running nurse stations, daily contract staff, one CNA even logged me out) and leadership was unresponsive. Cleanliness and operations were poor (roaches, long waits for towels), and my stay/Medicare approval and finances were left in limbo. On the plus side, some staff were very caring and helpful (Jamie was flexible), the rooms are nice, rehab was fine, and the hospital connection is convenient.
