    About Sparrow Hills

Sparrow Hills sits on more than 20 acres of quiet land out on Beaver Dam Road in Lucedale, with space to walk, fresh air, and a countryside feel that gives seniors a calm spot to live, and folks usually like watching animals wander past or sitting outside when the weather's nice, and in all that space there are only 26 beds so it stays peaceful and friendly with a small number of people so everyone gets to know each other. Seniors can pick from shared apartments, one-bedroom units, or studio rooms depending on how much space they want or need, and their care is set up to suit what each person needs, like help with moving around, getting dressed, in and out of the bath, managing medicine, or help with meals, and if someone has dementia or memory loss, they've got care plans and a dementia-friendly menu, with a nurse always close by and staff ready all day and night. Everybody gets a custom care plan, from basic assisted living for folks who need reminders or help with daily things, to more involved nursing home or memory care support, along with things like recovery after surgery, incontinence care, and help for people who can't walk well.

Sparrow Hills keeps things safe with call systems, fire alarms, sprinklers, and locked doors, and there's always someone around in case of an emergency, so families can know their people are watched over. Meals are served three times a day, made fresh, and run by a dietitian, with special diets for common issues like diabetes or high blood pressure, plus snacks and the option to eat with friends in the bistro, in the big dining area, or sometimes even outside. Housekeeping is part of daily life, and folks can get laundry done and have a tidy room, while bigger shared spaces like the courtyard, walking paths, and garden areas make it easy to get out and move around, sit in the sun, or watch the birds.

Monthly outings let people visit places in town or nearby, and transportation is set up for medical appointments, errands, or faith gatherings. Every week there are things to do, with board games, music therapy, animal visits, fitness and exercise classes, movie nights, communal cooking, and sometimes massage or haircuts in the beauty shop, plus a reading room, game room, a steam room, jacuzzi, and places to relax indoors or outside, and a snack shop if somebody just wants a treat. Support is there for personal care, with staff helping with grooming, bathing, or getting to the bathroom safely, and folks who need a break while caring for an elder or need a place for short-term care can use the respite or hospice services when needed. The staff do regular needs assessments and care plans that can be changed if a person's health or wishes change, and there's a group home and some counseling available for people with special social or personal needs. Life at Sparrow Hills is pretty steady, focused on keeping everyone as independent as possible but with help when that's not so easy, and the small setting means it's easy to make friends and have routines that suit what each person wants.
