    Compassionate staff, beautiful suites, recommended

I live here and feel very well cared for - the staff are compassionate, professional and have become like family. The facility is beautiful, hotel-like with clean, nicely sized suites, park-like grounds, great food and a lively calendar of activities that keeps residents engaged and healthy. It's safe, supports independence and offers aging-in-place services, but it's expensive, sometimes has a long wait list and a few amenities felt limited. I recommend touring - the care, community and food are exceptional.

    About TigerPlace

TigerPlace offers senior living in a peaceful setting close to downtown Columbia, Missouri, with big trees and nice landscaped grounds, and folks living here can pick from different apartment styles-studios and one- or two-bedroom layouts, some with screened porches, full kitchens, walk-in closets, and private baths, which is good because all the apartments come with touches like wall-to-wall carpet, window treatments, and individually controlled heat and air so you don't have to fuss with comfort. Residents age in place here, meaning as care needs change, services can adjust, whether that's independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing care, or even short respite stays if someone's in need of temporary support or a caregiver break, and there's always 24-hour staff on-site along with eldercare advisors to help talk through options if anything changes.

The big common rooms and lounges-one with a piano and fireplace that's nice on chilly afternoons-along with a modern spa, TV rooms, a library, computer center, and entertainment spaces give a place for both quiet time and group get-togethers, and those who like being outside use the community gardens, patios, and walking areas for fresh air, plus pets like cats and dogs are welcome, which many enjoy. TigerPlace pays attention to security and safety, with emergency response systems in every room, daily check-ins, wheelchair-friendly access, sprinklers, and smoke detectors, while apartment doors are ready for cable and phones for easy connection to family.

Meals get cooked up by a professional chef and served in an elegant dining room, either restaurant-style or in private dining spaces for special occasions, and there's even a lounge or pub spot to relax with neighbors, with meal plans that work for most diets and guests welcome when family or friends visit. Folks here take part in all sorts of classes and study groups, book clubs in the library, exercise classes in the fitness center, and plan for social or religious activities, plus the calendar always seems full with entertainment, health talks and discussions, resident and family meetings, and recreational events, making it easy to keep busy or to learn something new, and there's always help for laundry, cleaning, errands, housekeeping, or grocery needs included.

TigerPlace works closely with the University of Missouri's Sinclair School of Nursing, serving as a training ground for student nurses and therapists, so residents bump into new faces from time to time, and the community's always testing out new ideas for elder care and technology, such as special wellness sensors that check on resident safety and independence, and the staff-folks call it Hometown Hospitality™-puts effort into personalized care plans so needs get met quietly and respectfully, aiming to let every resident keep as much independence as possible. Renovations and updates show in new floors, art, kitchen counters, lighting, and furnishings throughout, while house features like a hydro tub spa, beauty salon, and enhanced classrooms give a nice touch to daily life, and all this comes without the hassle of home maintenance or worrying about snow, yard work, or repairs.

Handrails, wide halls, one-story layouts, covered parking, garages, on-site clinic, and even a daily check-in help with mobility and peace of mind, while the mix of private apartments and shared spaces means everyone finds their comfort level, whether enjoying group meals, planning parties, sitting by the fire, using the exercise room, or just tending plants in the garden boxes. The focus across the community stays on keeping folks active, comfortable, and supported as they age, paying close attention to little details and helping each person feel at home, all while being close enough to Columbia's shops, restaurants, medical offices, and recreation if anyone wants to head out for an afternoon.
