Leo H. Fieser Nursing Center sits in a quiet area and offers long-term skilled nursing care with a focus on dignity and comfort, and, being family owned since 1955, it keeps a home-like feel with just 50 beds, which lets them have a higher nurse-to-resident ratio for more personal attention and takes care of a wide range of needs, from basic daily support like bathing and dressing to more complex care, but doesn't do intravenous therapy or tracheotomy care, though it does have hospice and palliative services for those needing extra comfort as well as spiritual programs like Catholic Communion, Mass, Lutheran services, and other church visits that roll around each month, and you also get help with medication, tube feeding, oxygen, laundry, and continence management if you need it, and besides all that it has recently renovated spaces for residents to enjoy, shared and private suites at reasonable daily rates, and offers amenities like beautician services for hair or nails, on-site medical procedures like lab work or x-rays, and access to geriatric equipment rentals. The center includes a secured memory care wing for people with dementia where staff provides memory-enhancing activities and supervision, and it also gives rehabilitation care after hospital stays, using physical, occupational, speech, and swallowing therapy, and brings in live music with holiday celebrations or entertainment, social activities like bingo, crafts, cooking, card and dice games, and opportunities for residents to visit with their friends and families. Board and care homes with daily support in residential neighborhoods are part of the larger community, with services stretching from independent living to skilled nursing if needed, and for those who want a maintenance-free lifestyle without the need for much care, the independent living neighborhoods have amenities and social activities. Round-the-clock support handles medical and custodial care, and the center's aim stays on personal attention, safety, and making life as comfortable and engaging as possible. The facility is Medicaid approved and rated 2.8 from 9 reviews, and respite care's available if a family caregiver needs a break.

Clean facility, but dangerous care
I've had mixed experiences here. The facility is clean, quiet and odor-free; my loved one had an affordable private room, home-cooked meals, and engaging activities (cards, bingo, singing, organ, even a fashion show), and many caregivers were friendly and did great work. However I also witnessed serious care lapses - ignored medical needs, refusal/delay of hospital transfer, removal of a wheelchair, days without food or drink, and injuries that were misdiagnosed and later found to be two broken knees. Staff quality is inconsistent; I'd recommend close monitoring and asking many questions before committing.
