    About Annie's House

Annie’s House is a specialized residential facility that serves adults aged 21 and older with mental or physical disabilities. The history of Annie’s House dates back to 1985, when it was first established under a different name by a dedicated founder who would dedicate her life to caring for others. The home was run for decades with a familial spirit, and this legacy continued when the founder retired and her relative, Andrea, took ownership of one of the facilities. Andrea has been involved in the care and management of the home since 2009, stepping into full management in 2015, and officially forming Annie’s House in 2021. The founder’s devotion to the residents never wavered, and even after retirement, a love for the community brought her back as an assistant and volunteer in 2022, strengthening the home’s tradition of compassionate, hands-on care.

The staff at Annie’s House is comprised of dedicated and experienced team members who contribute to a nurturing and welcoming environment. Andrea leads the home with a commitment to upholding its longstanding values and personalized care approach. Charlotte joined the team as a Personal Care Aide in 2021 and took on the role of supervisor in January 2024, becoming responsible for all medical and psychiatric needs within the facility. Another key figure, Ruth, has been with the community since 2016, starting before the transition to Annie’s House, and now plays an important role in managing appointments as well as tracking client funds. Nancy, with 25 years of experience in accounting, became an essential member of the team in January 2022. Initially working part-time, her role quickly expanded as her skills and dedication were needed on a full-time basis, especially within the financial department. Each member of this close-knit staff brings their unique expertise and caring attitude to the residents’ daily lives.

Annie’s House accommodates residents in a 40-bed facility, offering all private rooms to ensure personal comfort and privacy. While the bedrooms are private, bathrooms are shared by gender, with eight restrooms designated for female residents and eight for male residents. The atmosphere is designed to blend independence with a sense of community, fostering social interaction and support among residents. Beyond the dedicated staff, Annie’s House features two beloved therapy dogs. Bailey, an Australian Shepherd/Husky mix, has offered support since moving in during May of 2021, providing everyday comfort and a warm welcome to everyone at the facility. Cooper, a people-loving canine that began visiting in August 2023, was initially fostered by the owner but was ultimately adopted after charming both the residents and staff. Though Cooper does not reside in the home full time, frequent visits ensure he remains a familiar and comforting presence.

Life at Annie’s House extends outside the physical walls through a vibrant calendar of activities. Residents have the opportunity to participate in weekly outings, which include trips to local stores, restaurants, and entertainment venues. More adventurous excursions are also part of the annual rhythm, with outings to the zoo, conservation areas, and other recreational spots, as well as special trips like camping, visits to Branson, and out-of-state adventures when guardians allow. Past journeys have taken residents as far as New York City, Florida, California, and Tennessee, illustrating the facility’s commitment to meaningful, life-enriching experiences.

Admission to Annie’s House is open to adults of both genders who are 21 years or older and are living with mental or physical disabilities. All residents must have a source of income, such as Social Security or Supplemental Security Income, and be insured upon admission. This ensures that each resident’s core needs are met so they can fully benefit from the comprehensive care and supportive community at Annie’s House. The commitment to personal connection, engaging activities, and skilled care makes Annie’s House a unique and welcoming home for everyone who joins its community.
