    Warm staff but unsafe understaffing

I have very mixed feelings. Many staff (Teresa especially) were warm, caring and thorough, the place can be immaculately clean with good food and family-oriented care - I felt peace of mind at times. But chronic understaffing and poor management led to dangerous lapses (alarms and escapes, no nurse help), hygiene and medication problems (stains on sheets, errors/theft), and basic needs sometimes weren't met, so I'd be cautious and watch closely before choosing this facility.

    About New Haven Care Center

New Haven Care Center sits in New Haven, Missouri, and for over 40 years, this small not-for-profit nursing home has served people in town and around the community, offering care that tries to treat folks with dignity and warmth, recognizing everyone's worth and making sure no one feels left out or overlooked, and maybe that's easier for a community-owned place where people know each other by name. The staff and volunteers work together to provide skilled nursing care, outpatient rehab, short-term rehab, and long-term care, and they do so under the guidance of a Board of Directors and an administrator named Charles Tritch, with everything running under the Missouri Health Care Association, so there are rules to follow and people who make sure things are done the right way. They have high standards for care and good management, and they offer a variety of services like medication help, bathing assistance, wound care for sores or ulcers, pain management using exercise or medicine, and 24-hour supervision, so there's always someone there if help's needed any hour, any day.

Their hospice care tries to bring comfort for the mind, body, and spirit, providing a full Medicare-covered benefit that includes medicines, nursing, equipment like hospital beds and wheelchairs, spiritual support, and even massage therapy, all with no out-of-pocket expense for those on hospice. People can find outpatient rehab and in-house services like podiatry, optometry, and dental care through a contract company, and they help with equipment if you need oxygen machines or mobility scooters, all to keep folks as comfortable and safe as possible. New Haven Care Center is also active in helping those who can't afford care and tries to make sure the materially poor get the health services they need.

They host daily activities for both high and low functioning residents, field trips like fishing and shopping, and scheduled events to keep folks involved, along with a warm and friendly atmosphere that makes people feel at home, and you can see their updates on Facebook. Their team values every person as unique and is dedicated to offering support that respects each resident's needs, with outpatient and respite care available for temporary stays, always ready to respond quickly to questions during the week. The center sticks to professional standards and good business practices, working hard to promote community pride and give every resident a high quality of life, all while fostering strong connections between care providers, families, and the local community.
