    Home-like reasonable cost needs fixes

I moved my parent here and overall I'm happy with the choice - the cost was reasonable, the place feels home-like, and many long-term, knowledgeable, loving staff make great meals that often smell wonderful. On the downside maintenance is spotty (I've seen roaches), some staff talk down to residents, activities are lacking, and food can be dry or just cold cuts and chips some days leaving people hungry; they even insisted I take my dad's laundry home. The administrator was responsive, answered my questions, and relieved my fears. No regrets, but maintenance and resident respect need fixing.

    About Bristol Manor of Odessa

Bristol Manor of Odessa sits in a quiet residential neighborhood in Oak Grove, Missouri, and has space for just 12 residents, which makes it feel more like a family home than a large nursing facility, and that smaller size means caregivers really get to know each resident well, helping with daily needs while still encouraging people to do as much for themselves as they can. Each resident gets a private room with a private bath, individual heating and air controls, an emergency call system, and accessible step-in showers, plus staff are awake and on site around the clock, including a live-in administrator for any emergencies or help needed during the day or night. Caregivers provide help with bathing, dressing, medication management, incontinence care, diabetes support including insulin shots, and stand-by assistance when moving around or transferring, especially for anyone who's non-ambulatory, with health professionals such as nurses and therapists coming by for visits too, and a doctor's always on call. Bristol Manor of Odessa offers three healthy meals a day, plus snacks, but what really makes meals nice here is that residents get to have some say about what's served-same with the activities, which are run in both indoor and outdoor common areas and focus on socializing, movement, and keeping minds active. Housekeeping and laundry services are handled for everyone, and residents don't need to worry about cooking, cleaning, or maintaining their rooms.

Bristol Manor of Odessa is a state-licensed assisted living community, part of the larger Bristol Care, Inc. network, which runs over 60 small senior communities in Missouri, and that experience shows up in their care plans, which can range from light help all the way up to heavy, depending on each resident's needs, including options for independent living, adult day care, respite care, and Alzheimer's care. Residents have access to homecare services, hospice services, and other supports that help people age in place, plus special technology like hearing aids, senior internet plans, and medical alert systems for added safety. Safety features in the building include home security systems, medication dispensers, and walk-in tubs.

Transportation is available for an extra charge, and there's resident parking, plus easy access to stores and restaurants thanks to the nearby buslines. The staff go out of their way to treat everyone with respect and encourage a real sense of community-pets are welcome, which helps with socializing, and devotional services happen both on-site and off. This place keeps things comfortable and homelike, lets seniors be as independent as they can, but provides reliable help whenever someone needs it-whether for a short stay, day care, or long-term support-with a goal to make moving into care a little less stressful. The community has a minimum age of 55 for residents, accepts both independent seniors and those needing more serious support, and gets a fair community rating of 7.4 out of 10.
