    Caring staff, home-like but dated

I moved my parent here and overall I'm pleased - there's a 24/7 RN, meds are administered, laundry/bathing/housekeeping done, private suites, fenced 10-acre grounds and VA aid is accepted retroactively. Staff are caring, attentive with dementia, friendly admins, clean and home-like (you can bring photos/furniture) and the place is safety-focused with night checks. Downsides: the building is dated and confusing for some dementia patients, rooms are small, occasional smells, aides are sometimes understaffed, meds/meals can be slow and communication spotty. Activities and visits are encouraged and staff are warm, but ask detailed questions about staffing, dining and dementia fit before you commit. Overall we're happy and would recommend for steady, personalized care in a small, family-like community.

    About Century Pines

Century Pines sits on ten acres next to a quiet park, and it's been family-owned since 1980, offering a calm place for seniors to live comfortably, and you'll see that they stay open 24 hours a day, every day of the week. The place has different kinds of care, so seniors can get independent living, assisted living, memory care for dementia and Alzheimer's, home care, or even nursing home care, which means most can stay here even if their needs change. Some folks use the accessible senior apartments, and others live in residential care homes, and the common areas and the whole building are non-smoking inside both public and private spaces, but you can have a pet with you. The community is licensed by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, the Veterans Administration, and the Missouri Department of Mental Health as a Level II Assisted Living Community, which is the highest level of assisted living care allowed in Missouri, and the state comes by with surprise quarterly inspections to make sure they take good care of everyone.

Century Pines has rooms that fit different needs, from two-room suites with private patios, large and small private rooms with private baths and sliding glass doors, some with courtyard access, to semi-private rooms shared with one or two people. Every bedroom and bathroom has a nurse call system. The memory care building is separate, secured, and has technology and wearable bracelets that sound alarms if a resident tries to exit, so people with wandering issues or difficult behaviors are kept safe. Trained staff work around the clock, giving help with bathing, toileting, transfers (even with a mechanical lift if needed), grooming, and medication management, and they can do blood sugar checks, give insulin, remind folks with incontinence, and look out for all kinds of health needs. Nurses are present 24/7, and there's a full-time medical director, so you always see someone ready to help.

Meals are served three times a day, they're home-cooked, nutritious, and serve snacks and special menus for those with diet needs, and housekeeping and laundry come with the stay. Residents get free transportation for appointments and errands, and there's also a wheelchair-accessible shuttle for group outings, so mobility is always supported. Two full-time activity directors lead all sorts of daily activities like crafts, fitness, games, music, socials, holiday parties, and family get-togethers, with special programs for memory care residents that encourage cognitive health and keep them active and engaged. There's a storm safety shelter on-site, as well as TV and phone access, Wi-Fi, indoor gathering spaces, and landscaped grounds outside. Residents have devotional services off-site, and the atmosphere supports people from Ozark Country Village Inc, Riverview Residential Place, Ozark Residential Care Center, Spanish Rose Home, and Vintage Park Retirement who need different environments as well.

Century Pines allows people to age in place because of its wide range of care services, so when someone's needs change, they won't need to move to a nursing home unless absolutely necessary, and hospice care is available in the community for end-of-life support. Everything at Century Pines revolves around treating people with kindness and dignity, helping each person keep as much independence as possible while getting the help they need, and if you walk through, you'll notice the helpful staff, the many activities, and the quiet comfort of knowing folks are safe and well cared for.
