    Caring staff but safety/administration concerns

I felt the staff truly cared-loving, attentive, and homelike-and my mother was happy and well looked-after much of the time. The building is clean, bright, and offers activities, outings and personalized attention; nursing and dementia-trained staff often went above and beyond. However administration and communication were inconsistent (billing, missed care-plan updates, little doctor contact), and staffing shortages/turnover were noticeable. I also experienced safety and hygiene concerns-slow or nonworking call buttons, lapses in hand-washing, and lost or mixed laundry/personal items. Food and activities were hit-or-miss, and the place may not be ideal for very advanced dementia or complex medical needs. Overall I appreciate the compassion of the caregivers and would recommend cautiously-verify safety, staffing and administrative practices first.

    About Chestnut Glen Senior Living

Chestnut Glen Senior Living sits in a quiet, tree-lined neighborhood close to parks and medical offices, so loved ones can visit easily, and residents can enjoy peaceful walks or time on the secured patios with pretty views and gardens, and folks can bring their pets because the community is pet-friendly, understanding how much pets can help people feel at home. The building's all on one level, laid out so it's simple for everyone to find their way around, and the rooms-either studios or one-bedroom suites-range from 272 to 449 square feet, some set up to share with a companion if that's wanted, with windows, carpet, individual climate control, and private bathrooms, kept clean by a regular housekeeping team who also tidies up every day. People here can choose from independent living, assisted living, memory care, respite care, hospice services, rehabilitation, therapy, adult day support, and skilled nursing, and the staff uses a person-first model where they get to know each resident's interests, needs, and preferences, tailoring care to help folks stay as independent as they can while stepping in to help with things like medication, bathing, dressing, and meals if that's needed.

The dining area serves meals made to order with menus that change, cooked fresh three times a day with attention to medical or cultural diets, and people can eat restaurant-style alone, with friends, or even have a private dinner party if that's something they want, and snacks are always around, along with coffee and tea in the family room, which has a big TV for movies or watching shows together. The memory care neighborhood follows the Best Friends™ Approach, focused on providing secure, calming surroundings, and there's a special Snoezelen Room with lights, gentle sounds, and textures to soothe folks with dementia or Alzheimer's who might feel anxious or confused. A licensed nurse is always on site and leads a team of personal care assistants, making sure everyone's health plan is followed, and help is ready any hour of the day, whether someone needs a hand walking, reminders for taking medicine, help with eating, or care for things like diabetes, incontinence, or getting up and about.

Therapy services-like physical, occupational, or speech therapy-happen right inside the community, either after an illness or surgery or just to help residents stay stronger and more independent, and for those recovering after hospital stays or for caregivers who need a short-term break, respite and rehabilitation care is available too. Activities run daily and cover a wide range, from Wii games, gardening, pet therapy, music, and crafts to fitness classes, chair exercises, live performances, and outings to keep minds and bodies active, and everything's optional so no one has to do anything they don't want. There are places to read in the library, stretch in the gym, or sit outside in the garden or on a bench; internet and cable TV are available in rooms and common spots, and families or friends can always come for a visit. Safety's important with emergency call systems in each apartment, well-lit halls, accessible entrances, and a trained staff licensed by the Department of Health and Senior Services watching out for everyone's comfort and care.

The community's grounds are well-kept, with plenty of room for walking and relaxing; there's a beauty salon, easy parking for guests, and transportation for appointments or shopping trips. Housekeeping and laundry services are included, and windows let in lots of natural light. Chestnut Glen Senior Living is privately owned and locally run as part of the Americare group, which has served seniors with a person-centered approach across decades, and the team here is known for kindness, helping each person live with dignity, purpose, and comfort, focusing on health, independence, and enjoyment through all stages of aging.
