    Cozy community with caring staff

I live in a one-bedroom flat in a rural, heritage Victorian estate with magnificent, well-maintained grounds and nice city views at night. The small, family-like community and long-tenured, caring staff made me feel welcome - freshly painted rooms, new carpet, great food, and regular activities (bingo, live music, shopping bus) keep me engaged. The interior furnishings are dated and a bit institutional and could use remodeling, but it's quiet, clean and overall feels like home.

    About Masonic Home of Montana

Masonic Home of Montana sits in the Helena Valley Northeast neighborhood and has served older adults in Helena for over a hundred years, so it's got a long track record of providing care with dignity and respect, and the staff knows how to keep a place tidy, with good ratings for cleanliness and attention. The building goes up three stories, has outdoor patios, landscaped gardens, a sun porch, and even shaded wheelchair paths and an outside smoking area, which is nice since everyone has their preferences, plus the recreation room, community spaces with TVs, and arts and crafts areas are always open for residents to relax or meet with friends. People can bring their pets here, and you'll often see animals being part of the mix, which brings a nice homey feeling, and inside, there's a beauty shop for haircuts and barber services, so residents don't have to go far for a trim. Meals come three times a day, and snacks are always around, with nutrition and quality in mind, and the dining area serves as a place where people chat and connect, with special meals for different needs.

Residents at Masonic Home of Montana get help to stay as independent as possible, with help for daily tasks like bathing, medication, dressing, and more, but the staff knows how to step in only when needed, and there's always a licensed nurse on duty with caregivers trained for all kinds of needs-even memory care for those with dementia, where specially designed areas help reduce confusion and wandering, plus dual occupancy is possible for couples. They're very focused on keeping everyone active and connected, so there's always something going on, whether it's birthday parties, bingo, singalongs, news updates, trivia, movies, music from the resident musical group, cookie time, pet therapy, gardening, cooking clubs, scenic rides, shopping trips, outings, game nights, or devotional and religious services, and offsite activities too for folks wanting to get out. The place welcomes everyone, including people from the LGBTQ community, because the policies and federal protections prevent discrimination based on gender identity and orientation, and that helps create a warm, accepting atmosphere.

Amenities here include private parking, internet and satellite services, and accessible apartment housing choices with elevators and helpful features, plus daily laundry and weekly housekeeping, and all utilities come bundled under an all-inclusive price structure, although the exact details on the utility bills or rental terms aren't spelled out. Transportation is free and always available, so people can get to doctor visits, shopping, or just to see the sights, with safety in mind, and health support includes diabetic care, incontinence care, non-ambulatory assistance, and physical activity programs to help everyone stay active. The staff does a lot to support each resident's independence, adapting help and service plans to needs that change over time, always aiming for genuine personal connections, and there's a real sense of community built up over generations-the kind of steady, rooted place where staff, volunteers, families, and friends all know each other.

Masonic Home of Montana has a mission to keep life comfortable, safe, and welcoming for everyone, and having been open for over a century, it blends a tradition of care with lots of activities, personal attention, and room for every resident to live with dignity and friendship in a homelike setting.
