    Tremendous facility with caring staff

I had a terrific experience - a tremendous, clean facility with super-nice, personable staff, effective rehab therapy, and very good homemade food; a great all-around place.

About Wauneta Care and Therapy Center

Wauneta Care and Therapy Center sits in the village of Wauneta, Nebraska, and offers 36 licensed beds for residents needing different types of care, and they've been owned by the village since 2012, after Vetter Health Services ran it before that, and you'll find it's certified for both Medicare and Medicaid, which means the center meets federal standards through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The home's got private and semi-private rooms, with cable TV and wireless internet, and it's open all year round, offering long-term care, short-term rehabilitation, respite stays, skilled nursing services, adult day care, and outpatient therapies, and the staff includes CNAs, LPNs, RNs, caregivers, therapists, and social workers-around 60 employees, all known for their dedication and kindness, and they don't use agency or pooled staff which gives it a steady and familiar atmosphere. The facility's always working on making folks feel comfortable, and you'll see that in the home-like setting with recent renovations and remodeling, and there's an emergency call system in place for safety. There's also memory care available for those with dementia needs, and every resident gets an individual care plan created with input from doctors, therapists, residents, and their families.

Residents can bring some pets based on guidelines, and participate in activities such as Bingo, Bible Study, crafts, exercise classes, and music concerts, and sometimes there's trivia, spelling bees, barbecues, and community trips, plus scheduled religious services on site and easy access to local churches and restaurants. Food is managed by a certified dietitian who makes sure each meal fits residents' needs and tastes, with a fine dining approach to meals that are nutritious, and there's also a beauty salon and barbershop for grooming. The therapy department offers physical, occupational, and speech therapy, for both inpatient and outpatient needs, and provides recovery and restorative care after surgery or illness, and rehabilitation programs aimed at helping people get back to as much independence as possible.

Physician services include visits by doctors, podiatrists, and physician extenders, and there's a pharmacy, medication management, mental health support, nursing care, and transportation to outside medical appointments. Wauneta Care and Therapy Center keeps a close watch on things like staff-to-resident ratios, care minutes, and overall quality, and they report these measures as part of their Medicare star rating, which looks at quality, health inspections, and staffing.

Residents create organized groups to help shape the community, and the staff focuses on offering compassionate, tailored support, whether someone stays for a short-term rehabilitation or needs long-term care, and they offer both skilled nursing and these specialized rehabilitation programs that aim for patient comfort and recovery. Some residents return home but keep coming back for outpatient therapy services, and whatever a person's care needs, the goal's always to make them feel safe and at home, with assistance for daily living and personal dignity respected at every step.
