    Warm homey country setting, caring

I placed my mom here and I'm extremely pleased. It feels like a warm, homey country setting - tasteful rooms, a big porch, walking path and small welcoming grounds. Staff are caring, professional and attentive 24/7, very responsive and team-oriented; residents are engaged with many activities, outings and events. Meals are good, facility is clean and well-maintained, and pricing is competitive. It's small and personable (which I like), but may feel crowded and has some shared rooms, so it isn't right for everyone.

    About Kirkwood Corners

Kirkwood Corners sits in a quiet New England neighborhood in a renovated 1755 post and beam colonial nestled among the woods, where the peaceful setting offers a sense of calm and the staff focus on helping seniors live well every day. The community is small with just 31 residents, so it's easy for people to know each other and get the kind of help they need. They offer assisted living and a separate, secure memory care building tailored for those with Alzheimer's or dementia, using exit-seeking technology like bracelets that alert staff if someone tries to leave. Care includes full-time staff, nurses on hand, visiting specialists such as podiatrists and therapists, and 24-hour support for emergencies. Services cover bathing, dressing, transfers including mechanical lifts, medication management, and care for those needing help with moving, incontinence, diabetes, or cognitive changes. The staff handle everything from laundry and housekeeping to meal preparation, with special attention to diets for allergies, diabetes, and low salt or sugar needs. Dining happens in a community dining room with flexible meal times, private dining for special events, and guests allowed. Residents aged 55 and older can bring small pets like cats and dogs, and the staff offer pet care help.

The community is laid out for both comfort and safety, with rooms - studio, one-bedroom, and semi-private - all furnished and wired for phone, cable, and high-speed WiFi, along with emergency alert systems. Rooms have wheelchair accessible showers, and safety measures are in place for those at risk of falls or wandering. The grounds include paths for walking, gardens with raised beds, outdoor patios, and plenty of indoor and outdoor areas for socializing. The activity program is run by a full-time director and covers arts, brain fitness, movie nights, music groups, gardening, cooking classes, recreation, and group outings, while church and devotional services happen both on and offsite with visiting chaplains for different faiths. The community hosts arts and crafts, has an arts room, a barber and salon for haircuts, and provides transportation for appointments or outings, sometimes at cost, sometimes free; parking is available for both residents and guests.

Kirkwood Corners supports people with everything from light care to heavier needs as they age, and allows residents to stay as their needs change thanks to aging-in-place facilities. Hospice and respite care are available, giving families help for both short-term and end-of-life needs. The staff assist with major behavior issues and handling difficult or wandering residents, making sure those who need memory care stay safe and engaged. Medication management, blood sugar and insulin support, and several therapies are on offer onsite, with nurses and caregivers always present, and visiting specialists come in as needed.

The community charges a one-time fee of $2,600 when moving in, with monthly prices starting at $3,400 for semi-private rooms, $4,100 for studios or one-bedrooms, and if someone needs more care, monthly fees are higher, ranging from $650 to $1,950 based on the level of care. Payment can come from private pay, social security, veteran's benefits, or private insurance. With a rating of 4.4 out of 5 on reviews and a community score of 9.3 on the Seniorly rating system, Kirkwood Corners gets positive marks. Places like Market Basket or Bedrock Gardens are nearby for outings with family or friends. The setting, the activities, and the staff's approach to personalized care provide a dependable place for those needing assisted living or memory care in a country environment, with a focus on helping everyone feel at home, safe, and as independent as possible.
