    Quality care expensive but recommended

I feel my loved one was in very good hands - the facility is gorgeous, clean and well-maintained, staff are caring and long-tenured, and the activities director runs a lively program (exercise, art, music, outings) with a memory-care option available. Our corner apartment was comfortable and pet-friendly, meals and medication management improved, and leadership is generally responsive. It's expensive, some units have small baths/kitchenettes and darker halls, activities can be repetitive, and a few families reported management or staff problems. Overall I'd recommend it for quality care and peace of mind, but check fit and cost for your situation.

    About Windham Terrace

Windham Terrace sits in scenic New England and looks like an old colonial house with a turret, wraparound porch, and dark shutters, and on a nice day, you can spot gardens and walking paths out front and see the big windows where light comes in, making the inside feel open and cheery with comfortable chairs, a big fireplace, shelves of books, and a sunny room filled with wicker furniture and green plants. Folks here can choose from different types of private studios and suites, some with kitchenettes or basic appliances, plus cable or satellite TV and internet, so they get some privacy and can relax as they like, and if you want to bring a pet, they allow both cats and dogs and offer pet-friendly spaces.

There's a big dining room with tables set in green linens and fresh flowers where people gather for chef-prepared meals together, and if a relative wants to drop by, guest meals are offered too. Social life stays active with daily gatherings for meals, games, music, arts and crafts, cocktail hours, and outings like field trips, visits to the theater, ferry rides, or shopping, plus there are things like Tai Chi classes, fitness programs, a gym, common lounges, and indoor spaces where people can read, play cards, or just chat. The place runs different hobbies and recreational activities, including gardening, outings, music programs, literary gatherings, and other group games to help everyone stay busy and connected, and there's a separate library with books, games, and computers.

Windham Terrace has trained staff on hand day and night, including a nurse on staff part-time, and can help with personal care, medication reminders, and health monitoring, including diabetic care and support with bowel or bladder issues, and can remind folks to use the restroom and offer transfer support with special equipment like mechanical lifts when needed. The community's built with safety in mind, including things like emergency call buttons, technology to prevent wandering, bracelets that sound alarms if someone leaves a safe area, a secure memory care section in its own building to help people with Alzheimer's or dementia who might wander or have more complicated needs, and the staff can help residents with behaviors that can be tough to manage.

Care options include assisted living, respite stays for short-term care, and specialized memory care in a section with extra security and programs to help keep memory care residents active and engaged. Services like medication management, help with daily tasks, grooming, diabetic checks, and support for transfers help folks manage their health while staying as independent as possible, and the staff's known for being caring and paying attention to even the little things that make life easier and more comfortable. There's a beauty salon and barbershop, scheduled transportation to stores or appointments, regular religious services onsite, and help with housekeeping, laundry, and linens, so folks don't need to worry about chores.

The grounds are easy to get around for those with walkers or wheelchairs, and everything's maintained to be handicap friendly, with parking and guest parking, and many seniors and their families visit for tours to meet residents and staff before making any decisions. Windham Terrace holds a state license (02783), and the location is near hospitals, stores, and pharmacies, making errands and healthcare easier to handle. The place aims to make community life rich and supportive, offering daily structure, comfort, and care, with a focus on letting people stay as independent as they want while having help close by when it's needed, and the staff tries to know each person, making sure kindness and respect are part of daily life.
