    Warm attentive care; highly recommended

I placed my mom at Sunrise and overall it's been a very positive, welcoming experience - staff are warm, experienced and attentive, she made friends, became active and loved the abundant activities and programming. The community is clean and home-like, meals are good (flexible dining/late snack options), and medical/daily care gave us real peace of mind. Staff retention and regular communication stood out, though rooms can be small, costs are high, and there were occasional staffing/housekeeping inconsistencies. Still, my mom thrives there and I highly recommend Sunrise for compassionate, professional senior care.

    About Sunrise of Wayne

Sunrise of Wayne sits at 184 Berdan Ave in Wayne, NJ, and you'll notice right away it's an apartment community built for seniors with different types of care all under one roof. You've got choices between independent living, assisted living, memory care, short-term respite, skilled nursing, and hospice, depending on what's needed, and the place does a bit for everybody, whether you want some help with daily routines or need round-the-clock support. The building itself has two stories, with a big welcoming lobby, cozy lounges where folks gather around a fireplace, and common rooms like a bistro, activity room, and spaces to sit with friends or read a book-there's even a private dining area for special meals with family, and a grand foyer and staircase in the Memory Care part. Apartments come in studio, one, or two bedrooms, with kitchenettes that have sinks, fridges, and spots for a table, and the private rooms have big windows you can personalize with your own things, dressers, and a sitting area to relax in the sun. Bathrooms are accessible, have grab bars and roomy showers, and they've got companion living as an option if you want to share. Outside, you'll see landscaped grounds with gardens and walking paths, porches and rocking chairs where people sit in the evenings, and the community aims to make the outdoors just as inviting as inside. Pets are allowed, and there's transportation for errands or trips to appointments, which takes a bit off your mind. Residents can expect full-time staff on site, with nurses checking in every month, and help is on hand 24/7 for things like laundry, cleaning, or daily living tasks if needed. There are programs in place for keeping bodies and minds active, with things like fitness, games, social activities, and memory care routines if that's necessary, and they serve meals in bright, warm dining rooms so you don't have to cook unless you want to. Folks with Alzheimer's or similar conditions have their own dedicated spaces and structured activities, and care plans can be customized to make sure everyone's needs are covered, including short stays for those just needing a break. There's a focus on making sure everyone feels safe and protected, because federal anti-discrimination laws are followed here, with protections for the LGBTQ+ community and fair housing for all. You don't have to worry about keeping up the place yourself, because the staff handles maintenance, cleaning, and trash, so life's a bit easier, and visitors can come see daily life and activities through the tours offered. Sunrise of Wayne's all about providing different ways to live, age, and belong, in a setting that aims to be comfortable, friendly, and safe right there in Passaic County.

    About Sunrise Senior Living

Beginning with a single community in 1981, there are now more than 280 Sunrise Senior Living communities throughout the U.S. and Canada. Each of our communities maintains the mission laid out by Sunrise founders Paul and Terry Klaassen more than 40 years ago: to champion quality of life for all seniors. The Klaassens’ vision to redefine senior care resulted in a resident-centered approach to care that focuses on the individuality of each resident and has set the standard in the assisted living industry. We are defined by our people. Our team of serving hearts are guided by our mission, Principles of Service and Values – all of which help encourage independence, preserve dignity and enable freedom of choice for each resident.
