    Beautiful facility, serious safety issues

The facility is spotless, beautiful, close to home, and staff are generally kind, attentive and professional - great activities, daily meals/snacks, and good value. Unfortunately I experienced serious safety/privacy problems: medication errors/forgotten or incorrect doses, missing items, a head nurse going through private drawers, and denial of feeding during illness that caused weight loss, so we moved out. Mixed feelings - excellent on cleanliness/amenities and many staff, but I cannot recommend it for someone who needs reliable medical care.

    About Hillcrest Spring Residential

Hillcrest Spring Residential sits in a two-story yellow building with a stone wall at the entrance right in Amsterdam, NY, and you'll notice the place has a home-like feeling even as soon as you walk in, with rooms and common spaces made for comfort and safety, offering 80 beds for seniors who don't want to live alone anymore or who need extra care. They have a variety of living options, including independent living for folks who want hassle-free days with friends, assisted living for people who need help with daily tasks, skilled nursing for those with more serious medical needs, and memory care for those living with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, plus adult day services and home care programs for folks who want to stay at home but need companionship or non-medical support. The staff includes Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Home Health Aides, a house doctor, and even a house podiatrist, working around the clock all year, and they offer medication management, 12-16 hour nursing, and support with bathing, dressing, and daily routines, which helps keep people comfortable and supervised. There's a remodelled restaurant-style dining room where everyone gets three meals a day and special diets are available if needed, and there's always a focus on making sure folks eat what fits their health needs. Residents get housekeeping, linen change, and laundry service, and the rooms are set up with cable TV, phone, and Wi-Fi, so there's no hassle with utility setups.

There are special places around for socializing, like the arts and crafts area, an entertainment and recreation room, a library for quiet reading, a chapel for religious services, and an activities room where game nights are held, plus there's a beauty salon and places to relax like the spa and sauna for wellness routines. Therapy services like occupational and physical therapy visits happen if doctors say they're needed, and you'll also see that bloodwork and other medical checks get done right on site for convenience. Outdoor spaces include walking paths, a screened-in porch, a recreation kitchen for group cooking, and patios and gardens where residents can sit, visit, or just enjoy a bit of fresh air, and the community goes for a safe and joyful setting where the main goal is comfort and care. Hillcrest Spring Residential also has a Certified Enhanced Assisted Living Residence (EALR) license for more complex clinical support, and they run their own unique care programs and community names for different services, so everything feels less like an institution and more like a friendly, close-knit group. Transportation services help residents get to appointments or outing events, and there's always a plan for community engagement, mental wellness, and personalized care, while the whole place is always open, day or night, any day of the year. The atmosphere stays welcoming, private rooms are available, and every aspect of care or activity is designed for the comfort, safety, and happiness of seniors.
