    About Sanford Home

The Sarah Jane Sanford Home for Women stands at 69 Guy Park Avenue in Amsterdam, New York, inside a big Victorian house that's got modern touches and a friendly feel, and what you see here is a place meant for senior women, with a total of 40 private rooms split across two wings called the Century House, which has 28 rooms with special bathrooms, and Sanford Hall, which has 12 rooms with private baths, all of them designed for women who're still ambulatory, meaning everyone needs to be able to get around on their own, and you need to be at least 65 with a medical evaluation and interview before moving in, and nobody's crammed in, because the rooms give plenty of space and privacy, with common areas like two large living rooms, quiet sitting nooks, three bright solariums, a big dining hall, and wide porches and patios that look out onto gardens and walking paths, and there's even a library, pet-friendly spaces, and Wi-Fi all over Sanford Hall. Staff stay on the property day and night, offering help with bathing, dressing, transfers, medication, and other daily needs, so you get security and independence without feeling crowded, and if your health needs change, they'll coordinate outside nursing and therapy, work with hospice, and stay in touch with your care team. There's assisted living, memory care, and respite care, and every new resident has to go through the regular checks because this home is licensed and inspected by the state. The kitchen staff and meal planners serve home-style meals, plus snacks any time, with family-style seating and menus created by dietitians, and they'll adjust for special diets, and guests can join you for meals. There's a beauty salon, an on-site barber, housekeeping, laundry, emergency alert systems, and help with scheduling move-ins, and the staff run a full calendar of entertainment-birthday and holiday parties, music, guest speakers, devotional services, movie nights, group classes, and trips out for lunch, tours, and local festivals, plus field trips so you're not always stuck inside, and there's room for women who like to lead some activities, too. So, Sarah Jane Sanford Home isn't a noisy place, and it isn't like living in a hospital or a big apartment building, since the whole idea is that elderly women can live as independently as possible for as long as possible, with meals, help, and friendship, in a house that keeps some old charm even if you need modern care.
