St. Michael's Home has served the community since its opening in May of 1958, deeply rooted in a tradition of caring for the elderly within a Greek Orthodox environment. From its beginnings, this care home has maintained its sacred mission to provide older adults with a true home-away-from-home. Residents are welcomed into an atmosphere where love, dignity, and quality of care are the central pillars, allowing them to experience their golden years in comfort and companionship. The focus on the Greek Orthodox faith shapes daily life and enriches the sense of belonging and community, which remains at the heart of St. Michael’s Home.
Originally located in Yonkers, St. Michael's Home has long been recognized as a non-profit adult care facility dedicated specifically to serving the Greek Orthodox community. The campus includes meaningful spaces such as the St. Michael's Home Chapel, which offers both spiritual nourishment and a place for quiet reflection to residents and their loved ones. Unique features like the Archangel Michael symbol and the presence of attentive staff—lovingly called "Helping Hands"—create an environment that feels both personal and uplifting. The care philosophy emphasizes holistic well-being, blending attentive service with programs and activities that foster meaningful engagement.
Looking forward, St. Michael's Home is actively expanding to a new state-of-the-art facility situated on the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Campus in Uniondale, Long Island. This new site, currently under construction, is designed to accommodate a greater number of residents and to offer a continuum of progressively higher levels of care. The vision for this new home is to blend modern amenities and technology with the steadfast values and traditions that have defined St. Michael's Home since its inception. In doing so, the institution is building for the future while honoring the rich heritage and needs of its community. This commitment ensures that St. Michael’s Home will continue to be a cherished haven for generations to come.
