    Resident praises staff, notes issues

I live here and the staff are truly wonderful-kind, attentive, and helpful-and the facility and grounds are beautiful. The food is delicious and there are abundant activities (arts, sewing, bingo, cards, church programs, day trips, music/dancing), plus a separate dining area and good layout. That said, the atmosphere can feel not very lively or comfortable at times, the independent resident population is small, and I've noticed occasional cleanliness/maintenance concerns.

About Snug Harbor On Nelson Bay

Snug Harbor On Nelson Bay, which used to be at 272 Highway 70 E in Sealevel, North Carolina, offered several types of care for seniors before it closed permanently. The place had long-term nursing care, independent living, assisted living, and special care for dementia and Alzheimer's. There were private rooms for residents, which made it easier to get personal care. The staff included people like Rose, who worked as the administrator, Bob Bozydaj, who did housekeeping and floor care, and Patricia Holcombe, who handled sales, operations, activities, and also worked as a Med Tech and Dementia Practitioner. Dee Simons was one of the founding partners. The community tried to make things comfortable and inviting, offering rehab and short-stay recovery for folks who needed help after a surgery or illness, plus respite care for temporary support. Amenities at Snug Harbor On Nelson Bay were set up for comfort and convenience, with some areas labeled with special names just for residents. Residents could take part in social activities and enjoy a low-maintenance lifestyle. The facility supported active and independent seniors but also offered more help when health needs changed. Snug Harbor On Nelson Bay belonged to a privately held health care company and employed somewhere between 51 and 200 people. They offered continuing care, nursing care, memory care, and worked with nearby home care and hospice services, so residents could get different kinds of support as needed. Even though there isn't any more detailed information about all the features or services, the focus was always on being a place where older adults could get the care they needed in a warm setting, with staff who had special roles and training. The website, while available, may not have current information now that the facility's closed.
