    Compassion turned to dangerous neglect

I found the place caring, very clean, and the therapy department and business office were impressive and genuinely helpful - aides were loving and some nurses went above and beyond, and staff supported us compassionately during my son's death. After new owners cut staffing, care declined rapidly: severely short-staffed, rude/unprofessional behavior, poor communication, medication errors (including an insulin overdose and a patient death), and alleged misconduct left me distrustful. Some residents clearly love it and the therapy/skilled nursing can be excellent, but approach with caution.

About El Reno Post-Acute Rehabilitation Center

El Reno Post-Acute Rehabilitation Center sits on 66 beds and has served the local community for years, and when you walk in, you'll see right away that residents have access to assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care, and both short-term and long-term health services, so you'll meet folks there for just a bit after surgery as well as people who need ongoing help with everyday needs like bathing and dressing or getting around; they even offer respite care for families who need a short break. The Rehab to Home program gives people an option to recover before returning home, and because some folks need special help, the in-house therapy program offers physical, occupational, and speech therapy, working with people who've had strokes, surgery, joint replacements, diabetes, or brain injuries. You'll find a very full day if you want it, with community-sponsored and resident-run activities, daily scheduled programs, planned day trips, as well as educational sessions, and you'll see staff help plan everything to fit each resident's interests and health needs. Every room has air-conditioning, a private bathroom, kitchenette, and comes furnished, so it's comfortable whether you're there a little or a long while. The center has a beauty salon, fitness room, outdoor garden, wellness center, gaming area, small library, computer center, and a main dining room where staff serve three nutritious meals every day using restaurant-style service, offering options for those who need special diets, like for diabetes. Residents get nursing coverage for 12-16 hours with a 24-hour call system in place, and the team can help with medications, transfers, and other daily needs. The nursing staff can help manage pain, provide IV therapy, dialysis, support after surgery, and help with diabetic exercise and nutrition programs, and a doctor's services are there for both short-term and long-term care needs. If folks need to get to appointments or just special outings, the center arranges transportation, and if people want to join in, there are plenty of activities each week. For those needing extra support, especially after a stroke or injury, specialized rehabilitation programs aim to help each person get stronger based on what the patient needs most at the time. The focus is on personal support, care planning, and helping people keep their individuality while also meeting their medical needs, and all this comes in a setting that aims for comfort and respect, so whether you're staying short-term or this becomes home, people usually find the staff is known for their caring approach. This Medicare-certified facility is operated by Mary Ann Morse Healthcare Corp. and keeps its focus on older adults who need different types of care, with both medical staff and therapy teams working together to support residents' physical and emotional well-being.
